I'm not usually big on the lamp/chair/whatever made from a Vespa links, but this one is way too cool not to share!

This guy made a steel guitar from a P-Series cowl. He calls it a legshield, but it's clearly not.

Sweet!

Dunno why he painted it that ugly flat brown - he should have gone with something more interesting like deep blue or a red, or maybe just clearcoated the bare metal in the steel guitar theme.

That is a Dobro. Does he play that hound dog? Is he into Blue Grass?

Could be a National-style resonator. Different animal. Can't tell from the pic as his hand is covering the bridge (which would be the tell-tale feature). The deep soundwell in the construction photo indicates that it more likely has a National biscuit-bridge cone installed.

National-style resos are favored for blues; Dobros more for bluegrass. I've built ukuleles in both styles.

Cool either way!

I bow to your expertise. The pictures on the walls look more bluesish than Blue Grass.

If he painted it black, it would play faster. Razz emoticon

I'm pretty certain its a National-style resonator with a biscuit bridge (see my avatar) based on the coverplate alone. I agree that the Dobro style screen holes are a little confusing.

Very cool guitar for sure. I would have looked for an old chrome Vespa metal hubcap for the coverplate in the style of instruments made by Larry Pogreba.

Bingo. Here's a pic of the biscuit mid-construction from his gallery:
