**Update: I bought them, scroll down for links/picts***

Ok guys, I need a need quick answer:

I have the opportunity to buy a 1957 (she thinks) vespa... she's sending pictures... but she says its all there (includes the engine)

Even if its in rough shape, is it worth 200 bucks? no title...

Any tips for when i go to see it?

will post pictures when i get it...

Sebastian

mayyyybe 250 for both bikes.

that isn't a 57, more than likely a 58~59 looks to be a split headset.

i'd say 250 and make your money back parting them both out.

best,

I say get both of them, as long as you have room to store them inside. Although the Vespa's been picked over and is missing lots of little bits, it looks repairable, as long as there isn't any serious rust on the frame. Toppers are pretty rare, so I'd pick it up as well, you could probably sell it on eBay for twice what you paid. If you can get them both for $250, that's awesome... even as much as $400 for the pair is still not a bad deal, or $500 if she still has the motor for the Topper.

lol. I think we were separated at birth... exactly what Id do. If the frame is solid, and she wouldnt budge on price, Id still give $200 for it..

Here are two CT90s I helped my friend bring home the other night... we partially dismantled and crammed both of them into the back of his 2-door VW Golf. The neighbors stood around watching and drinking beers as two city folk played motorcycle tetris with a small car.

Ditto on Greentree...

I'd bet big that it is a 58-61 Allstate 125.

Split headset, that blue.

I paid $700 for my '60 Allstate. It was complete, but in poor shape. Engine was good, not running. Made a sweet little machine after resto.

Just like the one I had in HS in the dark ages '60-'63. (Yes, that is a '51 Ford next to me. Mine, but I was too young to drive it!)

Pick that up....offer $200. You can fit it in pretty much any car (can get two VBBs in the back of a chevy HHR if you really try.)

Ok. now what? I like the concept of the Harley scooter. But I already have projects going, and this whole bke is made from pure unobtainium

What's it worth? Who wants it? Should I part it or keep it together?

I'm not going to post it on sleezEbay just yet...

for those of you that have been watching this story, here is the vespa:

looks like a 1963 allstate. I guess I'm going to sit on this for a while as a next project...

jimmy: eat your heart out... but there will be no bumping into gear.

I can't tell which is a bigger project, your 63 or my 65/61 hybrid. I think mine looks like less of a project and I'm hoping reality matches up with the initial impression.

I don't think you'll be doing a lot of sitting on it anytime soon. Laughing emoticon

Nice project though and a great community here to help if help is needed along the way.

Congrats on the purchase!
