Now we have a scoot by shooting

BOSTON --
A 10-year-old girl who was out playing with her father was shot Friday night on Creston Street in Roxbury, Boston police said.

Police said the girl, who was shot in the leg, was not the intended victim.

The suspect is described as a black male who was riding a small motorized scooter. The man stood up on the scooter while steering the wrong way down the one-way street and began firing.

Police said he dropped the scooter and fled on foot through back yards in the neighborhood. The girl was taken to Boston Medical Center. Her injury was not life-threatening.

The shooting took place across the street from the home where Terrence Kelley, 18, was shot and killed last week and just minutes after a community meeting was held concerning violence in the neighborhood.

The father of a Nicholas Fomby-Davis, a 14-year-old who was shot and killed last Sunday, spoke to the gathering.

WTF??

So a senseless act of violence happened to be committed by someone on a scooter.

IMO another thread to be babysat by the Moderators until it self destructs.

I wouldn't see it as a growing trend. Hollywood does give us bad-asses shooting from motorcycles. Suprised it's not emulated more often. I am pretty confident a semi could be shot fairly well, but the climb from a full auto would be near impossible to control, esp while driving.

Dunno, I wouldn't call for a lock, the scooter-victim thread stayed cool as I remember, why wouldn't this one?

Boulty, Sorry you took it this way. I posted because it happened a few days after the other kid got gunned down. I don't think this site is supposed to only reflect the rainbow side of riding. Look at all the posts about riders who have crashed.

The last thing I want is for people to post a lot of trash about how to deal with them or inject politics.

There have been many times I deleted a post before sending because of respect for our guidelines. So I'm sorry this caused any worry.

I think this is a very valid post. I don't see anyone having a big 2nd amendment battle or crying out for registration/confiscation, and again, we didn't see the shooting victim thread desinigrate into politics or something nasty. I feel the mod here WAY over jumped the gun here.
