What is the purpose of the green light on the instrument cluster? I was sure it was to indicate that the headlights were working - you know if the green light is lit the headlights are working. If it goes out there's trouble... Today I was out riding and stopped for fuel. All the lights on the cluster were working as they normally do, the green headlight light was giving off it's reassuring green glow as it always does. I saw my reflection in the window of the gas station and the headlight was out. Flicked on to high beam and yes it worked. Seems kind of silly to have an indicator light that doesn't warn you when there is a malfunction. Certainly one could argue that I still had high beam but that's not the one I (and probably most of the Vespa riding population) use as a rule. Any thoughts?

In countries where the low beam isn't required to always be on, it will turn off as the headlight is switched off.
