It's gonna be hard to say without knowing which rack you're talking about, and which tail light is on the Rally.
The rear section of the Rally is shaped a little differently, but some racks will fit fine. Best thing to do is just test fit your rack... or post pics here in case someone has the exact same one. |

I believe the BBQ rack for the Rally and the P are different. I learned this the hard way as I purchased one online and later found it was for a Rally.
The Rally BBQ has a smaller bracket that hooks under the seat. It also has the ability to store a spare tire underneath the rack. I've got some pics of mine at home I can post later. This doesn't mean you can't make yours work somehow. Try it first before you scrap your idea. |

I hope the usability of your pre-purchased accessories isn't going to factor into to your scooter selection. Cough Cough, get the Rally.

Don't worry, you can always fabricate brackets for the BBQ rack. I used my bbq rack on my PX w/ a euro taillight. Used some L-brackets and copper pipe and it was all good. Cost <$5.

Don't be too stressed out. Go check it out. Make sure the engine is cold and try to start it yourself. See if they'll let you ride it around given than you've owned a shifty before. If not, make sure they ride it around for you. Listen for weird clattering and things coming from the engine. If they'll let you, do a spark plug check and see how strong the spark is. You'll be able to get a sense on whether the electrics and motor are alright this way.

How much do you weigh? Will that 125 be able to handle the hills? Only you know what you want, but man I know I'd get bored of the lack of power pretty quickly.

Scorchio - he's only had one scoot before, and for like a week before it got destroyed. Give the guy a break.
In a less harsh manner, though, Dominic, you have sent mixed signals. You've gone from "the P125 is BEAUTIFUL and it's the one I want. I DON'T need any more power than that" to "the rally is wonderful I'm going to get it" to "the rally might be unreliable, I'm going to get the P125" and back to "I'll miss the power of the 200 if I get the P125" I THINK, that we are all influencing your opinion too much, because it seems like your perception of these scoots is changing in relation to the most recent "authoritative" post on the matter. Just remember, none of us is an authority on what you need and what you like. Airfin seems pretty confident that with the kit the 125 will fly because it has tighter gearing. He's probably right. Don't let people tell you it will be too much or too little power unless they know exactly how you will be using it. Question: how exactly will you be riding the scooter Regarding the oil leak on the red P200 - whatever man, you should check it out. I think that is a great deal on an excellent scoot. You should figure out what kind of oil leak it is before you say "THAT IS OUT!" I mean, the drain plug could just be loose for all you know, or the selector box gasket is bad - a $1.00 5 minute fix. Regarding the Rally, it's probably got some issues to be listed so low. But, you don't know what the issues are yet, do you? Again, you can't decide until you check it out. Keep in mind it can be a slightly more high maintenance bike and yet still start and get you around every day. I mean, I can say the same for my P200 vs my ET2 - the ET2 is basically maintenance free, but it doesn't mean the P200 won't run and won't get me around. I think you need to go see all three scoots in person - make a fun shopping day of it. The fact that you have other options to consider might make the seller more flexible on the price too, who knows. Start them all yourself, listen to their noises yourself, and you will be able to do a lot of the comparison on your own based on that... "oh, well, the P2 actually sounded rougher than the Rally, so..." |

I would also be a bit cautious with the rally at that price if I didn't know much about motors but... it's also really hard to sell a bike right now, so maybe it's just a good deal. Go talk to First Kick before you see it. Also ask them and barry how much to take a look at a scoot before you buy it. Maybe they'll give you deal on the idea that you'll become a new customer for service. I know you want to get a bike pretty quickly, but if you get a weird feeling from all those bikes, just be patient. There will be a clean ass freshly rebuilt P200 in your price range on the market sooner or later. |

Dom,
Regardless of whatever you buy we are talking about a machine thats over 30 years old. They arent out of the box brand new. Whatever you choose make sure that you have about $1000 left over for registration, insurance and repairs. I bought my Rally a couple of years ago for 2100 and it is a daily rider, having said that I have put $1000 into it. It goes with the territory. Take your time you will find the right bike for you. Dont let simple things like an oil leak put you off a potential bike, be grateful that the owner was honest and use it as a negotiation point. Dont be afraid to view a bike, test ride it and then walk away, you can always leave your number and see if the owner comes down in price a little. One thing is for sure you will be riding this summer on a great bike. Heres a few that I would suggest on your budget; http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/mcy/1783701130.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/mcy/1783575792.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/mcy/1783432804.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/mcy/1783830464.html Happy Hunting! |
