So this isnt too big of an issue just want some headsup as to what could be going on. I tried to kick start the scoot today after about 4 hours of sitting and it wouldnt kick over.. It sounded like every 3rd or 4th kick it would try and start up but wouldnt. those other 3 or 4 times you wouldnt hear anything it just sounded like it had no compression... this is the first time its done this. any feedback would be helpful..

Did you leave the fuel on? If its still like that - try holding throttle wide open, no choke and see if catches - then keep revving it to clear it out.

I was having that same problem, intermittently the past couple of days. Turned out my spark plug was loose.

Well... if you left it on and kickstarted over and over. You probably flooded it.

And yeah, generally speaking I always start mine with the fuel tap closed using the juice left over in the carb to get it going.

Yup - on most of these old bikes you really need to make sure you turn the gas off of you flood it. I have a couple that has a really good seat for the needle so once the bowl is full - it doesnt flood the engine.

Try straddling the bike, but lean it over to the left. then as stated - Hold throttle wide open, no, choke. kick it till she fires! if it just doesnt fire it may not be flooded - so check your plug.

Like I said.

We will never hear the end of it. How many threads is now?

Heres a suggestion

When you are about a block away turn the fuel tap off and let the bike run out of petrol. (Time it so you run out when your at your doorstep)

When starting. Turn the tap on and try a couple of kicks. No success? Try using the choke. No success? Turn the tap all the way off, open the throttle and kick it over.

No success? Change the plug, make sure its gapped corectly. Check your cap and lead, make sure they are screwed in snugly at both ends.

Start with those and get back to me.

hey dom, having fun

it blows when these things are sensitive to old parts

i tend to beleive that if your kicking these things more than three times than its time to stop and get some tools out

what i will suggest is that you pull the plug and see how wet it is and check the gap, lambrettas are very gap sensitive, try closing it to about the thickness of a credit card and see if that helps

most p's have a starting character, what works for one doe'snt necessarily work for another, my last two p's started completly differently

one i did'nt have to give any gas or choke and could leave the tap on all the time

the other a little gas, alot of choke, and definatly turn the tap off before killing

you just need to spend time with your new bike that has old stuff 8)

Hello

What plug do you have in it now, if it is too cold it may foul easily.

Took it into Barry today to get everything sorted out.. Headlight, turn signals, kill switch, ignition, and to figure out the choke problem with it sticking, He said the reason it could be hard to kick it over is because the chick before me put on some stupid clutch levers and loosened it up so either A) the clutch is fried.... or B) the clutch cables just need to be tightened and levers changed too.
