If it's all there and legit, I'd buy it. But, if it's an SS, I don't think it's really a 1961 model. Weren't they only made from '64 to '68?

If it's legit, it is a lot of cash for a "project" but it is an SS. When I see ads like that I always picture a perfect scooter just garaged away in need of a good polish and a clutch cable. I've said "I'll take it" and it ends up being a rusted hulk of garbage though.

I've got a '68 that I love. Best riding Vespa I've ever been on.

1961 would make it a GS150. The GS160 was not made until 1962, and the SS was later.

The GS150 is a widebody - with all the associated problems and hard to find parts.

Post some photos of it!

Could be a 50SS or 90SS too. Those too weren't produced until 1965 if I remember correctly. I'd grab the 90 SS at that price.

I'm very curious to see what you've found...looking forward to the pics! If you've found a complete GS150 for $1700 then you've found a great deal indeed.

It is a VBA. Like Falcon said, not worth it.

That is a bummer, but it just as easily could have been a clean GS. The Scooter Gods must be crazy.

Good finds are still out there so don't give up. I'm amazed at the scooters that have been coming out of barns lately.

yeah - the search is half the fun ...
you are right -
i dont Need another bike anyway --i'm just crazy /// Clown emoticon
but for knowings sake --what you guys think it is worth ? its probably a total rebuild to get rid of surface rust everywhere --But alot of the parts can be refurbished. i am just curious as i dont think i want to take it on even if it was 1/2 the price listed....
