What's really funny about that thing is that it is sooooooo high up but because of the tanks it has nothing for ground clearance.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose???

What do I know...

I wonder what is suppose to be the purpose for that truck. What did the designers have in mind???

It's an F650, would love to have one, But I would want mine set up so I can tow. That one is set up for looks, too high to tow a 5th wheel trailer.

I once knew someone that ordered a large truck like that but it had the 5th wheel thingy. It took almost a year to come in after she ordered it but she actually needed one for her side business. She raised and bred Arabian Stallions and also transported horses for a fee. She used her Toyota as the grocery getter.

That I want to pull a big Toy Hauler, so I can bring my toys with me. The idea would be to travel the country and live in a trailer, a big trailer needs a big truck to pull it.

No, it's made to haul someones movable house, and a comment like that is no different than saying if you ride a scooter, you are gay. Some people need a truck like this. Ever hear of a full time RVer. Don't pass judgment on someone elses needs or wants.

I think the owner of that truck would suffer a case of the vapors at the mere suggestion that it be driven on anything other than smooth pavement. Razz emoticon

As for me, I don't care what people drive...their choice...but I wonder:

I've heard the term "Diaper Harleys" given to bikes whose owners want to project the totally badass image but won't risk their machines actually getting wet or dusty.

There should be a term for big-ass monster off-road vehicles that are only used for milk runs and slow down to a near standstill to mince over a speed bump.

So I can't slow down for a speed bump if I have a big off road truck? My average off road speed is between 5 and 10 MPH, off road doesn't mean abuse it.
I love people who ask me why I have my truck with off road tires and lifted a few inches, because when every they see it, it is spotless with no dirt or mud on it. I tell them they need to go with me when I go camping or ATVing and it is filthy and covered from top to bottom in big chunks of mud. And if I didn't have the tires and lift it would be stuck more then moving while off road.
Just because you see a truck and it's all clean and shiny, don't think it has never been off road.
Now, I do know people that would never take their truck off run, but that doesn't mean that's the fact for everyone
I would have never made it to this camp site, up a very steep fire road without my 4x4 and low end power of the diesel. It was summer so no mud, just dusty as hell, would have never made it up if it was muddy.

I think saying someone needs a truck like this is like someone saying they need a face lift. It is optional and a choice. Don't get all pissy because you own a big vehicle too. Most people form an opinion about people who drive crap like the OP picture. I have seen someone around our area who owns own of these type deals and DOES use it for average commuting. You assuming they use it to haul big crap is the same type of guess we have about the lack of extension in the front of the jeans. I would bet we both are right.

Yes, I own a big F-250 Pick Up
My comment is to the people saying "why do they make these"? I am saying because "SOME" need them. I didn't say most people who buy them need them, but some people do and if they want one there is no reason they shouldn't be able to buy one. Most people who own scooter don't need them, don't see people dissing you over that.

'camping'??? in that monster?? ROFL emoticon if you need something that size to haul around your 'camping' gear you should just stay home.

i understand and completely agree that some people actually need a truck that size. i suspect, however, that the number of people with a real, genuine need for a truck that size is proportionally tiny. kind of like their penis.

sorry, i try very hard to avoid getting opinionated, but this sort of excess just makes my piss boil you only live once indeed.

You can go as slow as you want.
I couldn't give a wet slap.
But I can tease you about it, too.
Come on, you can take the ribbing. I do...we all do...after all, we ride scooters. 8)

Actually, my post came from my own experience. I was riding behind a huge Hummer out of a shopping mall parking lot. I mean absolutely decked out screaming I'm a tough mutha. There were two small speed bumps...I wouldn't even slow down much on my scooter for them. The Hummer almost literally stopped before each one and the proceeded to tip-toe over them. Yeah, he can do that if he wants to. But as for me (and the amused bystanders), it looked as silly as hell.

I'm still hoping for a term.

Maybe you were just having fun, but just to be clear: Virginia is 42.3 K sq. miles in area; the UK is 94.5 K sq. miles, and England itself is 50.3 K sq. miles. So they've got you beat. However, you are correct, public transportation here is sketchy at best, and we are an immense country. I'm saddened to think of all the rail lines that have been abandoned. The good side is that many have been restored to recreational trails.

Don't jump to conclusions....
Prior post seem to indicate that the truck pictured in original OP is a male owned / driven...anatomical extension...testostorone ego enhanced...etc.

Ahhhhh...folks....locally something like that would be driven by the these rather robust or on the other extereme petite local ladies with "attitude".

For those who may be able to relate to this cultural phenomenom...or have visted our isles, I believe you can attest to the following scenario:

1. Rather large or petite woman...tatoo'd supremo

2. Gold Hawaiian braclet...looks like "shackle" band

3. A flowered head lei...not the one around the neck...it goes around the head...around head seems to ehance #6.

4. Right arm on the steering wheel and left arm dangling outside the open window...for added attitude a cigarette is prominently held in full view.

5. Acessories: multiple passengers riding in bed of truck (with "attitude" an d/or pit bull secured by a rahter large chain (with attitude), a custom made decal on the rear window..."Honey Girl! or Princess"

6. If you are approached while in the pedestrian crosswalk...you'll be stared upon by truck driver who will acknowledge your meek existance by a stare and a jerk back of the head which means you're existance had been noted (see #3).

Disclaimer: This is just my observations only...if it offends anyone my deepest apologies.

BTW...just to set things straight...I'm local...but this phenomenom intrigues me.
