Very sad episode tonight seeing what happened. RIP Capt. Phil...captain with a heart.

I have not seen tonight's episode of Deadliest Catch, but I checked the DVR to make sure it was recorded. Think I'll wait until later to watch.

This and Ice Road Truckers are my two favorite shows.

Did he actually die in this episode? I thought he was still alive in the ambulance as it drove off.

ALICE he had a heart attack on board. I think he made it to the hospital but he died at the hospital. He's been dead for a while so i wonder if they held this episode for a while because of the family or it was the typical production time. RIP Capt Phil.

well he had a stroke and shortly after died from pulmonary embolism over a year ago but last night they aired the episode when he had the stroke.

He just died a few months ago on 2/9/10. RIP Phil...

Neither one could possibly have earned the appropriate Master's license yet. That aside, neither one has the requisite crabbing experience to run a boat, or to convince a crew to take their chances with them.

They'll have to hire a captain.

I thinking one of the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" might take over Capt. Phil's boat. Wouldn't that be so cool?

Very sad episode. We knew it was coming, but didn't know it was going to be in last nights episode, so it was a bit of a shocker. I'm glad he seemed to iron things out a bit with his son, Jacob.
