Warning: Ressurecting somewhat old review thread!
My veredict: The CG lasted 7K. Now for my question. I didn't want to start my own thread because I am sure someone knowledgeable will pitch in and answer my question right away. I have noticed that Michelin is now using the word reinforced on the CG and their advertising. Is this a new thing? Have they always been reinforced? And if not are the reinforced ones supposed to last longer? (Okay that was three questions ![]() |

The city grips do have some that are more reinforced than others. if you look at the michelin web site they have a fitment chart and they explain all the codes for the tires. speed ratings, weight ratings. |

Have 7000miles on mine and show only slight wear in the rear and barely any up front. But there is that "wobble" about 30 mph!

Just back from a 1186km trip on my newly installed michelin city grip front and rear. One word: awesome! Bought it from a shop in Singapore for USD104 for both front and rear, cash and carry.
Highly recommended! I did hundreds of curves during the trip to 3 highlands, City Grip never fails me even once! 1200km Tri-Highlands Ride in 3D2N Get it ! ![]() ![]() |

I have the City Grips on my 2007 GTS 250ie and I love them.
The front tire has over 8,000 miles on it so far and it doesn't look like it will need replacing for quite awhile yet. (I'm new to this forum and will try to post a picture later.) The rear tire "had" only 3,100 miles on it when it got punctured by some road debris. But it was still looking and riding great at that point. I replaced it with another City Grip. Previously, I had a Pilot City on the rear for about 8,400 miles. Interesting note, When it came time to replace the Pilot City, I had wondered how much better ride the Michelins actually were that the original Savas. I though maybe it was just in my "head". But when I took my scooter in to get my (1st) City Grip for the rear I had a surprise. I had ordered the City Grip, but the shop didn't notice the note on the work order. Instead they mounted something else out of stock. I didn't bother to "check" the tire before I left, but I didn't enven get out of the parking lot! The scooter felt very squirrelly, like the tire pressure was very low. I got off to check and found they had not installed the City Grip I ordered. So now I was convinced of how good the City Grips are, at least compared to some others. In the end dealer was very good about it though. I went right back to the service desk, they saw the note was on the service order and immediately took it back and put the CG I ordered on for me. |

Sorry everyone, I won't post a picture after all... All I can say is that after 8,000 miles on the front City Grip they "look" like they have quite a few miles left on them. But they do show noticeably less tread than the new City Grip on the rear.
Regarding the front "wobble", is this something people have experienced only with certain tires and at certain speeds? What I have noticed is that if I take my hands off the handle bars at "any" speed, and with "any" of the tires I've had the front wheel will begin a very serious wobble. I was very surprised by this the first time it happened. Prior to my Vespa I had only ridden traditional motorcycles and never had a wobble like that. I just chalked it up to the non-symetrical front shock. Maybe I'm all wet! |

howdy, I guess resurrecting an old post but I am speaking to the info asked for. I have the bv350 and have the head shake mentioned with the front city grip tires. there is noticeable cupping but the tire has over 13,000 miles and still good tread. one thing I would mention is that when I bought the scooter I ordered the tail trunk but it didn't arrive till I had a thousand miles or so on the scooter. there was absolutely no shake in the front until I took it in and had the tail trunk installed. that is when the shake began. I thought the mechanic had bent the front wheel because I saw the scooter up on the lift with no tie down other than the front tire clamp which is only as high as the tire itself and I felt that reefing on the bolts while installing the tail trunk may have torqued the scooter to one side and bent the wheel. now i'm thinking that the new shaking in the front was a result of the shift in weight and balance from installing the trunk. could that be? do all of us with the shake have a tail trunk installed?
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken |

The city grip looks a lot better than my power pure after 10,000 km. Note the scalloping on the left side of the tire due to increased wear from Thailands crowned roads.
I did 23,000 km before puncturing the MOE Pirelli without noticing any unusual wear. The photo was taken after the tire was removed. The squared off V profile and wear is much more noticeable when the tire is mounted. Cannot recommend Michelin Power Pures. ![]() |

I just had a set of Michelin City Grips put on my 2009 GTS 250ie. I bought this scooter used about 4 months ago and figured I'd have to be changing out the original Sava tires. They passed the "thumbnail scrape" test, so I ran them for 3,000 miles, until the rear developed a bulge.
What a difference these City Grips make in handling: the GTS now feels sportier! The Sava tires seemed a big square(ish), the City Grips definitely have a rounder profile. I hope I get the kind of mileage that some are reporting in this thead. |

On my GTS, I was able to get 15K miles out of the CG front, about 8K miles on the rear. I'm not riding super aggressively, but I do get after it quite a bit.
I would say my riding is mixed with suburban commuting (aka Stoplight TT) and blasting down winding rural roads for fun. Huge fan of the Michelin CG for grip and wear. |

New City Grip 2
After 6200 miles on the original City Grips I replaced the rear with the "2". It claims to have improved traction with the use of contoured treads and longer sipes. The compound now has more silica but still has longer tread life.
https://motorcycle.michelinman.com/motorbike/browse-tyres/by-category/scooter I am 250 pounds and ride hard. Several turns scraping the stand. Smooth roads and very anal on 29 PSI in the rear. The front City Grip is fine for now and Michelin told me there's no problem in mixing CG & CG 2. I'll report back in a few. Ralph |
