I am blessed to be swamped with work as my industry (Electrical Contractor) has been hit very hard by this economy. I have not had time to tally everyones requests. I will do that this weekend and it will give me a better picture of what additional materials I will have to order. My neighbor (Dan) has made one prototype for me to give the OK to. It turned out great! His time needs had changed and he is expecting to perform the mods next friday the 30th as he and I discussed this an hour ago. I was hoping for this friday but having the extra time to dial everything in, such as researching shipping costs, is stress relieving. So keep the orders coming and I will PM everyone back this weekend.

Will paypal ding me a percentage if we use it like that? If so, how much will they ding me? Any info welcome, as I am relatively new with the paypal.

Require everyone to pay with the personal option that way you will not get dinged.

For the benefit of the overseas people, what is "the personal option" ?
Is that the same as a "direct credit to your bank" via the net?

If you used Paypal, and there is a small charge to withdraw your money, I am sure that no one would mind adding any extra to the bill.

Paypal has a "Personal" payment option which is fee free. Sign in to your account and check it out...

Thanks, I did check it out.
I also noticed that there is a facility on Paypal to request money from others. All that is needed is an email address.
If a seller of goods did that, they can set the amount and wait for payment. Goods would not be sent until funds received.
Seems a good and easy way to do it. Any fees can be added in advance.

That is apparently not a universally available option. Maybe it is only available on English language versions of PayPal? I just checked PayPal.de again, and switch it to the English translation to post a screenshot. The options on PayPal.de are "eBay Items", "Goods(other)", or "Service". There is no "Personal" option. However, I do have a bank account in the USA that I can send a check from, or I would be happy to add the PayPal surcharge to my payment when I send the payment in USA dollars.

This is true, but to transform paypay money into real money into someones bank account is when they get you.

72 bolts ordered so far, any other orders?

I haven't ever been dinged for making a withdrawall straight into a 2nd checking account. they do tell you it takes 3-4 business days. The deposits usually only take 2 days when I check my 2nd checking account at the bank. then I just transfer to my primary checking and all is good.

Thanks for the input, I don't have a lot of expirience with it, I just stated my understanding. I stand corrected.

Didn't get everything at the same place, because they didn't have the quantities or it was way more expensive to do so.

Did you get a price to send to Australia? I guess it will be in the same ballpark as for Germany. Anyway I don't mind paying a bit extra for the shipping (and your time) of the 4 I requested.

Great work and thanks for the time and effort in getting these made.

And "ditto" to the post by Dennis.

The fact that so many of us are so anxious about this should tell mjm50cal something.

Many thanks to him for his effort and the cost, whatever is it is, is minuscule compared to the potential savings. I do not think anyone would complain about the cost.

Can't wait to get my four either.

recieved mine today and 10 min install for all 4. I didn't do the full extension lean as I was able to get the 17mm socket on the top one just fine, and the torque wrench fit up there also with no problem. Hmm wonder if it was that new lift I have that made it easier to reach up there.

FYI folks, I did the same as some of you...I sent personal as payment instead of as gift and it charged me the fee. I don't think Mike will get hit with the charge. No sweat, as I don't mind the small fee. I do see now, however that if I had chosen personal as gift, there wouldn't have been any charge to either of us, it appears.

So, if you haven't payed yet....when sending via paypal, be sure to select PERSONAL as GIFT.

Thank you Michael,
Mine arrived safely today also to Australia.
All I need now is for the weather to warm my garage a little, so I can install them. (Its about 44 F or 7 C at the moment.) Too cold for comfort for an old guy unless urgent, but I will be pleased to get them in.

Thanks for your effort and trouble.

WARNING - CAUTION - DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE

DO NOT over tighten the new bolts - THEY WILL BREAK:

I broke my first one and according to my tension wrench it was between 50 and 55 foot lbs.

Yes, I failed to re-read the instructions which suggest 45 - 50 ft/lbs. I made the mistake of tightening them to what I thought the original bolt was.
Fortunately, the broken shank screwed out without difficulty.

SO - be warned!

Bugger - I am now one bolt short! I might leave the original bolts in both lower bearings and use the new spare to top up the grease in those from time to time.

BL...Y METRIC CONVERSION CONFUSION:

Refer to my previous post:
I got mixed up with metric NM and imperial ft/lbs.
I should have used a torque of 45-50 NM which is, I am told, 33 - 36 ft/lbs.

My broken bolt happned because I used far too much torque, over 50 ft/lbs.

Again. be warned - there is not a lot of tolerance to play with.

(PS: I grew up with good old fashioned imperial sizes)
