I need to hit Mt Hamilton, it's the last of the big 3 in the area for me to see.
You've been riding for a bazillion years and you haven't seen Mt. Hamilton yet? Oh, you're missing out.

Justify in a way that isn't, "birthday".
Inspired or called out in the two posts, I took the day off and headed down 880 to San Jose. Once there, I headed due east to Mt Hamilton. Growing up north of San Jose I always figured that Mt Hamilton was that ridge line that runs parallel to 680. You know the one MC Hammer lives on. So I figured it would be a short jaunt from San Jose. In fact I was beginning to feel very underwhelmed and cheated when I saw the "Mt Hamilton Viewpoint Restaurant." You kidding me this can't be it.

With a sinking feeling in my stomach I trudged on through the unknown twisties. Word of caution to those doing the 3 peak challenge, the road has some ripples that are hard to see in mixed lighting.

Hitting the Mt Hamilton sign in the valley, I began to worry that I had taken the wrong approach. But throwing caution to wind and reading the sign that said Lick Observatory 19 miles ahead I kept at it. And I am glad I did. More great twisties and no traffic.

I summited an hour and half after leaving Oakland. Given my late afternoon commitment, I pulled a "Grizwald Family" photo session, hit the restroom (I know TMI) and headed back out.

Coming down the mountain was much quicker. Thank you to gravity and the knowledge learned on the way up.

Hit 680; moved across Mission Blvd; lane splitting and the commute lane on 880 I made it back to Oaktown in plenty of time for a sandwich at Grinders and meeting my other commitment.
