Fancy upgrading the slightly weedy light in my horncase to something brighter.

Ultrabright LED in GTS noselamp?

was looking at the above thread and the V-LED's look like something worth putting in, but they're US based and shipping is hefty.

Has anyone in the UK installed brighter lights in the horncase and sidelight and do you have the model numbers of the bulbs you used?

You can upgrade the light with LED but it really isn't supposed to be bright, it's just a gimmicky running light.

What would be kinda cool is to put a light in there like I have in mine that is an led and constantly changes color between 6 different colors. You could even set it up so it does it when parked too for that cool disco effect.

Funny you ask that question. I am just thinking about going retro and throwing out the ugly blue-white LED and installing the warm incandescent again which results in a better-illuminated reflector and therefore a larger lit area, if you want to be seen

PS: Don't expect to get results like you see in the Audi DRLs. Those are special LEDs designed for that purpose, have high output, (relatively) high wattage, and a high price <cough>

I've swapped the VLEDs into the hornlight and it is a lot brighter and stands out much more in traffic -- my brother and I find them very useful when riding to be able to easily pick each other out in the traffic. If you do it though you will probably want to upgrade your main H4 bulb at least to one of the brighter types (Halfords do a good range of blue white and ultra bright ones in the UK) as the comparison to the VLED is very obvious against a "normal" halogen globe....
