My MP3 250 has around 8,000 miles and all of a sudden the front brake lever
is going almost all the way to the grip. I just looked in the manuel and it says to check if there is air in the lines. Is this something I can do myself? The rear brake seems to be fine.

yup sounds like air in the line. first check the master cyl for enough fluid. the window should be full. then if your good at bleeding brakes yes you can do it your self . the suggest way is to reverse fill from the bottom up with a mighty vac pump unit. If your still under warranty take it to the dealer and make them do it under warranty.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid that it was the brakes but when I opened the cap there was almost no fluid in it. I put some in and its fine now.

Next thing to do is to find where that fluid leaked...

Check you pad thickness, if they are right down to nearly nothing that will show a low fluid level, but once raplaced with new pads the fluid level will return to normal.

Be carefull next time you do replace the pads as you will end up with too much fluid in there (If indeed yo do not have a leak).

If you have an early 250 you may need new rotors. The original front rotors on the MP3 250 ate pads for some reason. Call your dealer and see if Piaggio will flip the bill weather it is in warranty or not, it was a defect.

When was the last time you had your fluid replaced? It's best to do every two years, especially with that front system! you don't want one brake grabbing more than the other. I'd drain and replace if it's never been done. If you barely had any fluid, it's possible you could have air in the lines.
Better safe than sorry.
