Modern Vespa

Illini Scooters in Champaign, Illinois closed on 31 July.
The owner is extremely ill and could not keep the business going.
They were the Vespa, Kymco and Genuine dealer in town.
This is a real loss for Champaign. The people who worked here were friendly and helpful.
The only other place that sells scooters is a big outfit that sells Honda, Yamaha and Sym.
They are primarily a motorcycle dealer.

I am hoping that someone steps into the vacuum and picks up these lines and has a good service department.


This did force to learn how to change my own oil however.
I discovered that there are some pretty good videos out there on scooter maintenance.
I intend to learn more.

I used to deal with them when working for Genuine. Very sad any time a dealer has to close. Seems like a really good opportunity for the other dealer to scoop up some more brands and business.

I was thinking the same thing.
I hope another dealer can spring up to grab the business though.
Sportland seems not as upbeat a place as Illini Scooters was.

What did you do for Genuine? I would hope it was a fun business to work in.

Fixed it for you

Micheal has closed his doors on two Dealerships. He was sucessful with his
Oceanside dealership and then expanded to Newport Beach Vespa
Dealership and went belly up, I have been told.

Luckily Max, Alex, Steve and Kelly have it covered in San Diego at their
Motorsports Scooter shop. Way to go and pick up the slack. 8)
