I've been looking without success for an aftermarket windscreen for my GTV250 that would be about twelve inches higher (not any wider) and use the existing mounting brackets. Any leads on where to find one?

Just as an FYI, there have been changes made to the screen we sell since then to make it a tighter fit.

This is the very screen I have been looking at. I note it is currently on back order; when do you anticipate receiving more stock?
Thanks Mark |

I have the mid sized screen from Motorsports for my GTV.
Last weekend I rode across the Sydney Harbour Bridge when it was blowing a gale, my bike was almost blown across lanes but I noticed my mid screen was fine, no movement at all. Question about tapered shims, I received them and installed them between perspex and outer metal disc, with taper facing down. Seems to work OK is this the correct fitting? |

I agree with XLR8.
I use a cut-down "tall" Vespa OEM screen on my GTS and wouldn't have it any other way for obtaining the perfect fit, OEM appearance and having quality Vespa OEM windshield mounting parts. Yes, the Vespa OEM windshield is not cheap, but I only have to buy it once! |

GTV250 Aftermarket Windscreen
Thanks for the help I placed my order for the back ordered midsize windscreen and some Italian License Plate Screws so the north & south ends will both be covered. My dealings so far with ScooterWest have been very agreeable. The Vespa screen would undoubtedly be better but I didn't want to go through the cut down process and possibly screw up a fairly expensive screen.

Okay...good choice.
I will post a pic of mine if I am able to post pics here. People who look at it think it came that way...there is NO way to tell it was cut down. In fact, I had to cut it down THREE times, to get it exact for my eyes height (looking over the screen about 1.5" or so)...and each time was easier as I had the process down better. IIRC, I cut it down a total of 8 inches from its as-is factory height. Enjoy your screen...I'd not ride without one and before I got mine, I hated doing speeds over 40 because of the wind, pebbles/drifting beach sand blast kicked up by vehicles in front of me and large bugs we have down here (like HUGE Dragon Flies). Felt bad about the Dragon Flies: Every one I took out meant more mosquitoes surviving to bite me! |

OEM Vespa Tall Windshield cut down to fit (seen here on my Midnight Blue 2009 GTS-250): IMO, it's what an OEM Vespa mid-size windshield would look like -- IF they made one! ![]() ⚠️ Last edited by cloudcroft on UTC; edited 2 times

For those of you interested, I've sent an email to the manufacturer about getting some additional shims for the earlier versions. Send an email to sales@scooterwest.com to request a set.
We also carry the Cuppini screen if anyone wants one of those. http://www.scooterwest.com/items/?_pageCCS=t#page=/item_details/GTV-GT60-Mod-Style-Flyscreen/2029 |

OEM (Vespa) Windscreen
I keep reading that OEM Windscreen is THE best screen on the market BUT it is very expesive. What is the ball park price for one that would fit the GT200 or are all the GT series using the same product?
Thanks |

oldfart1,
Vespa accessories are pretty much the same in price just about anywhere you find them for sale online. Expect to pay MSRP for Vespa OEM accessories and if you find them for less, consider yourself very lucky. But heck, even Honda OEM accessories for my earlier motorcycle (VTX1300R) -- such as their OEM windshield, lightbar, saddlebags, etc. -- weren't "negotiable" either, so that's just how it seems to be. IIRC, I paid $189 for mine (plus shipping)...bought it online as we have no nearby Vespa dealers here, and, the place I bought it from -- Vespa in New Braunfels, TX (AF1 Racing) -- seemed to be a good place. http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/contactUs.asp Kind of sad, however, to pay $189 (plus shipping!) for something too tall, just to cut it down some but as mentioned, Vespa doesn't make a mid-sized OEM windshield. If you're on a limited budget, you'll want to go aftermarket. Whatever brand you go for, research how people who own that particular product like it (the pros & cons they report) BEFORE you buy it. Good luck... |

It does have the added advantage of some hand protection. Add some heated grips and combined they do a good job of keeping your hands warmish on cold and rainy days. |

Got my windscreen yesterday and mounted it today in no time flat. At first glance I thought it wasn't going to help too much given the height but the top of the screen has a curve that directs the wind flow over my head and I'm pleased. It is about ¾ as thick as the Vespa screen and does shake a little even at a stop light but that's no big deal given I look over it not through it.

cellingburgh sent me the pic below showing the new shims. Max - are there instructions on how to mount them? With them being tapered, I thought they would mount behind the windscreen between it and the black plastic GTV mounts. I figured the fat part of the tapered shim would be at the top, causing the windscreen to mount at a more upright angle by offsetting the severe angle of the GTV mounts.
Update cellingburgh cleared it up. The hole in the shim is small enough that it can only mount where it is in the photo (on the outside of the screen). ![]() |

Another update from cellingburgh - he decided to drill out the center hole on the shims and install them on the backside of the windscreen with the thick part of the tapered shim on the top. When I asked if the shims helped with the mount angle, he replied:
Quote: They did indeed. Even though the shield move ahead the thickness of the shims the increase of angle has the shield almost touching the speedometer unit and before I could easily pass a cloth between the shield and the speedometer for cleaning. Can't wait to take it for a spin and see the difference. ![]() |

OF Honesty's not always the best policy - declare only 50% of the spend, and discount the declared spend by 50%. That is, if the CFOs controls make that possible... It worked for Enron, well, for a while... |

I wonder if anyone has an aftermarket windscreen for my Aprilia Beo 200....The orginal is worthless, way too small.....I heard that AF1 used to carry a European dash top that has holes for the Givi screen, but can't get it anymore.....
