Hi all, newbie and first post as only just bought my scooter! Don't expect this to be the last, as I intend on doing all my own servicing etc.

My first Q - and seems a simple one - when taking a reading from the oil level, should this be with the dipstick screwed in or just placed on top.

This is the first threaded dipstick I've known, although on all other vehicles I've owned the oil level is always checked with the stick pushed fully home.

Aside from the obvious (level ground, cold engine) the manual says very little about this.

Advice would be really appreciated!

The oil is checked by screwing the dipstick all the way in.

Or, even easier (but a little less precise), do it this way!

The dipstick is like a rectal thermometer. It won't give a proper reading unless it is all the way...oh, you know. Razz emoticon
