"I never thought I'd say it, but I am a scooter fan! Don't be surprised to see more reviews of scooters from me in MotoUSA in the future. All in all, the entire trip was one I'll never forget, and I plan to be there for Amerivespa 2011 in New Orleans. Anyone up for a 1900-mile scooter ride in about a year?"

Great!

That's great!

Good to see people take their scooters out of their city limits once and a while.

Well, how about CA to New Orleans next year?

I know some people planning to do the ride, but I have a feeling they'll bail sometime between now and next summer.

Pretty much. Scooters can't go that far can they? Nobody should ride their scooter that far, well, maybe TeacherQuinn, or KS7877 could do it, but they're ironbutts or something. That would be cool.

I want to do it from Austin. I know that's not far, but the heat and humidity are going to be murder. I am going to buy out all of the dri-fit clothing that I can find in town

Lots of people do those kind of miles.

About 1900 miles. Average 250mi/day barring any serious problems. Eight days! Then maybe one or two extra "buffer" days in case of breakdowns or other delays.

It's doable and I'd love to do it but who has 20 days to ride to AV and back? Not me. Guess I'll have to fly out again if I go.

Probably so. I see you have a 250cc. I went down with a Stella to San Antonio. It took 4 hours Going to New Orleans, I am going to be selective about my traveling buddies and require higher horsepower. Otherwise, it will take me 3 days to get there. Although, I am thinking of doing it in 2 days, since it's normally a 10 hour drive from Austin.

It's shorter than the CannonBall (or really close the to the same, depending on where you start. I did a quick Google Map and it is between 2,250 and 2,300 miles for me depending on whether I go via I-40 (ABQ/Amarillo/Dallas) or I-10 (PHX/Jaurez/Houston).

I am not planning on making this ride. I missed San Jose and won't miss the next West Coast opportunity.

Late edit: the CB is 3,270 miles for the route I saw but I am not sure it's the final route...whatever, it'll be close to the same.

I have not even looked at a round yet, but just a quick glance at google maps it seems to be about 700 miles from me avoiding highways. That could be done in 2, but more likely 3 days... Takes me through Waco though...

Hmmm exciting!
