Use voice commands to control gps through bluetooth, and receive gps directions and cues in stereo.

Besides the obvious problems of wind noise and its effect on voice recognition, did you have a particular GPS unit in mind? I don't know of any in the motorcycle segment that are voice-controllable.

I'm looking at the new 3790t from Garmin which accepts voice commands. But can you transmit voice commands from a bluetooth helmet setup like a Cardo Scala to this GPS.

This way you wouldn't have to use your fingers at all to get around once you mastered the voice command(ing). And from the reviews I've read so far on the 3790t the voice command function seems to work very well.

I think your real question, then, is not whether such a setup is possible (as you seem to know the answer to that already) but whether anyone is using it in a motorcycle / scooter environment, where wind and road noise present a very formidable challenge.

Correct in a way..but thinking about my question more right now, I need to contact Garmin and ask them if this model accepts voice commands through bluetooth.

I have a Parrot SK4000 and you can't tell I am riding when I am using it. There is no wind or back round noise, even when I am doing highway speeds, I talk to people and they don't even realize I am moving.

So, if the GPS will accept the voice commands through the blue tooth I see no reason it wouldn't work.

Read up on Bluetooth to see how it works. A Bluetooth device must implement a "stack" which means it can function as a particular type device. A headset stack means that can be paired with a device that "needs" a headset. So your question should be what stacks your GPS implements. Even then sometimes things don't quite match up when someone takes shortcuts - like headphones but no microphone support. See it's about "handshake" - when they pair up they are sorta checking each other out. Just like a bad date the unit being paired can fudge the facts as it sees fit - "oh yeah - headset - I can do that...."

Using my scala cardo q2 I have installed vlingo on my android htc desire phone... It is amazing I can tell my phone to sms people, call people, email people, search for places, get directions, all without touching my phone, or even seeing my phone, it will read out sms and email to me and tell me directions with spoken street names too...

That is what I would recommend
