Is it likely that I will be able to get a discount of a new Vespa LX125? #

I've spoken to some dealers and they've said nothing they can do as Vespa tell them what to charge.

Any suggestions?

Conditions in the UK are different. As I said to you yesterday you should be able to get about £200 to £250 off an LX125ie. Have you visited both Fowlers and Downend? Don't forget the RRP is exactly that, a recommended retail price. It doesn't mean that that is what you pay. I have always managed £300 off a GTS. Some of my fellow Brits have managed more. But as the wiki article says, maintaining or developing a good relationship with your dealer is important. Don't fight agressively over prices and if you can't get any dealers in Bristol to deal, see what accessories you can get thrown in for free. You might get kitted out with helmet locks etc for free.

The two posts above mine pretty well spell it out..........just don't ever buy the line from any dealer of cars, scooters, etc that the mfg sets the price. The mfg sets a suggested retail price but the dealer is an independent businessman and can sell for whatever price he chooses to. He may have an agreement with the manufacturer that he cannot advertise the product below a certain price but since he owns his business, the final selling price is his sole decision. Good luck with your purchase.

My wife and I just got 2009 GTV 250s from two different dealers. The first one lopped $1,000 off the price before we could even ask what he could do. The second one took $300 off. The first appeared to be very desperate for a sale - things are pretty tough in the scooter market these days - while the second wasn't. YMMV. You shouldn't expect a Vespa dealer to be able to give you the sort of price breaks that you'd get from a car dealer.

If you can't get a deal on the price see if you can get a few bit chucked in.
Helmet, Gloves or a couple of free services, you never know, it's worth a try.
