Hi,

i m from Germany and i bought an mp3 400. I payed by credit over 5 years and now i am thinking if i drive about 10-12000 km a year, that will be 60000 km (shold be 37000 miles i think..)

Do you think its realistic for that engine, for the whole scooter. (If i do all the checkups etc..)

Yes, in a year. If you search his posts you'll see that he is committed to becoming the first person to actually change the first "1"00000 digit on his odometer in miles and he is well on his way to doing that.

Speaking personally, I am rapidly coming up on 5,000 miles after two years... 8)

that stopped as he was looking for a replacement engine or having his redone, I think it expired late last year.

I will be very disappointed if I don't get at least 100,000 miles on my MP3 500.

This picture was last Sunday.

External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

On June 15, 2009 it was bought with 498 miles on it. Last two months a new job has reduced my riding but I am starting to pick back up riding the MP3 to the mills I service.

If it does not make it well past 37,000 miles I'm going to be pissed. For the most part it is rode hard and put up wet. I have washed it 2 or 3 times. It is kept outside as I have no garage.

Yes, somebody in a german forum told me about this guy "ufo".
So, after reading your comments I m lokking forward to easiliy reach about 60000 km in 5 years.. I mean: It has to work, because it s anything but not cheap with 8000,- euros....
I get a garage in two weeks for my baby, so in Winter its protectet too.

@ rjeffb: Great Avatar! Haha: Thats how I feel on my mp3, like riding a harley in this town!

One question again:

Do you think things like Malossi Vario will short the lifetime of an mp3 ?

11,000 miles in just under 23 months. Not a lot, but it is ridden daily and in all sorts of weather. The bike usually holds up way better than my nerves in the really bad weather. LOL.

No in don't think so what can shorten your lifetime is the way you wil drive it,
Fullthrottle with a cold engine and stuff like that, will down the lifetime

The 400cc is a downgraded 460cc with the clutch and vario of a 500 so it should be able to withstand all, because it less powerfull then the 460cc

What i did could effect the lifetime i've got aprox 10 horses more then stock

And what i wrote on the German forum a Dutch mp3 400 did 61000 in one year and got a new engine because it lost its oil
