When I disconnect the battery cables, from the battery to connect the battery tender leads, will that screw up any of the electronics on the GT200.
(I know, disconnect the negative (black) cable first)! Thanks

Put mine on and kept the connectors touching as I slipped the tenders connections in... no problems.

Actually, connect the leads before plugging it in and unplug it before removing the leads when done.

Shouldn't mess up anything.

No need to disconnect the battery cables. It can't hurt anything to charge the battery with the scoot cables connected. All the charger will do is put voltage across the scoot's electricals, but the battery's doing that anyway.

Yes it will, Your clock will no longer keep the time,
Well, It doesn't on my GTS when I disconnect the battery.

Not 100% sure about the GT 200.

But I'm pretty uncertainly sure that the clock will no longer function.

Heh

Try it and see if your clock still works.

Believe the GT200 series runs off a watch battery...hence will keep running if you disconnect the scooter battery.

As a precaution, we get some electrical tape and as soon as we disconnect the ground terminal we wrap it up to insulate it.

Don't bother disconnecting the battery, there is no good reason to do that. If you do, it won't screw anything up. The clock on the GT 200 runs off its own small battery in the headset.

You can also install a pigtail from the battery that you plug the Battery Tender into. I have mine running underneath the scoot attached with cable ties so it pokes out on the left side just behind the floorboards. Makes it pretty simple to plug in.

Exactly. You defeat one of the most convenient features of a small amperage battery tender if you disconnect or remove the battery. Just install the small adapter that comes with the battery tender and plug the tender into the adapter jack when you need to top off your battery. Quick and easy.

All your asking is that when you install the pigtail will that process screw up any of the electrics? Quick answer- no. I have to do the same on my Reflex. I've done it to my bv and all that happens (on the bv) is the clock resets. You won't have that problem on the GT. I ended up with another Schumacher brand battery tender. This one is branded "Diehard" - yep bought it at Sears. The only difference from my present Schumacher is that this one has a 3 year warranty vs. a one year warranty. My current one is 6 years old and never had a problem so....

Good luck.

I think all oldfart wants to do is to install the pigtail to his battery. To achieve that, he has to disconnect the battery (or at least undo the terminal nuts).

That's as far as I can help. I don't know what a GT does without juice.

Just curious does the clock use the watch battery only when the main battery is disconnected or all the time? Oh the things we learn here, why wasn't school as exciting?
