the headlight is the same but the 05 has the hydraulic front disk.
The tops are interchangeable so if it's a style thing you could just swap the top. |

I just did this swap on a Stella.
You'll need to figure out something about mounting the master cylinder. There are brackets you can buy from SIP, so it's not that big a deal. You can use the PX larger headset plastic top. It screws right on, and so you can use the larger PX speedo. You will need to figure out something for the wiring, and you will not have the sockets for the declutch switch or the front brake switch. (that ground the starter and light up your brake light respectively) Otherwise, it all works out just fine. I ended up hardwiring my starter, and only having the brake light up w/ the floor pedal. I also used a drum P fork, as that's what I had laying around, so I didn't deal w/ the master cylinder placement. Feel free to PM me w/ any questions. |

ya just swapping the top then ... youll need to wire up the gems so they work apart from that and cutting round the master itll work ... youll probably want to fill the ignition hole too

WHY? You can't do the math? Even if you do the math wrong from a PX speedo, you will probably be more accurate than an '80s P speedo.
100 kph = 62 mph What else do you need to know? |

So, all those reasons have only to do with the headset top. No need to change the lower. You can get the headset cover from SIP for $20.

All you want is an 05 PX style speedo that reads in mph?
Done. ServiceJeff has one, and he wants to sell it. The big numbers around the dial read Kph, but the numbers on the inside read mph. I'm sure he'll be quite reasonable with the price too. Give him a PM! |

Why a replacement speedo? Why not just send yours over to Speedo King, have him restore the one you have and put in a mph face? Done and done.
luca42070 wrote: its a few things... 1st a replacement speedo is gonna coast me 150 bucks and its gonna be in km. 2nd i like the way the og headset looks better. 3rd i was planing on wiring in the low fuel, blinker and high beam lights into the og headset. should make a fun saturday project. i can get a headset for 35 bucks i have the paint already and im gonna cover the ignition hole with a custom fuel light ill fabricate. a gauge will coast me 100 bucks. So im gonna spend the same either way. Of corse if they sold a mph vespa speedo for the 05 px i would just buy it. lol but when you say that the 80s p speedo wont be as accurate that puts a damper on things its not really about doing the math although yeah my whole life i have used mph so when i look at km it takes a like 2 seconds to figure it out rather then a glance down. |
