From reading all of the posts and my own experience it seems pretty much
the norm that the fuel gauge is not very accurate on the LX150's. My last
fill took .9 gallons and the needle was below 1/4th. Ok then, does anyone
know how far I can expect to go when the low fuel light comes on?

Also, thank you for the Q&A's concerning the explanation of how the vespa
transmissions work. I found that very interesting.

Thanks in advance for the information.

I have gone as far as 20 with the fuel light on solid (not flickering). I normally go 10 from that point and have never run out...yet .

The gauge is pretty useless. 90-100 miles between fills, look for a station when the light stays on.

Range is 20-40 but i never have gotten pat 30. Hate to run out of gas. Btw now at 3400 miles mine works perfectly Wha? emoticon Yeras ago people said they tended to start working around 2-3k and i thought they were kidding Don't know if it's a transient thing but i'm lovin every minute of it working properly I see you have an IE so i really wouldn't want to let it run out. The yellow light works perfectly tho. Have fun with the scooter. Oh and even if it's under warranty don't bother to get it replaced the new one will do the same thing

I've gone 25 miles with the light on, but I was really sweating it!

My gauge:
- fill up: shows almost full but not all the way
- in 20 miles it shows 1/2 tank
- at 40 miles it shows 1/4 tank
- at 80 miles it shows empty (but no light)
- at 100 miles the light comes on

Then I go to fill up and can only get ~1.6 gallons in there! The fuel tank has a 2.3 gallon capacity so I know that I have a good reserve should I need it.

My gauge isn't too bad.

After I fill up, the needle is just a hair shy of the full mark.
At 20 miles, it shows 3/4.
At 45-50 miles it shows 1/2.
At 65-70 miles it shows 1/4.
The light starts to flicker at about 90 miles.
The light is on steady at about 95 miles, and the gauge needle is still a hair above the empty mark.
The needle doesn't hit the bottom peg until about 105-110 miles when I am truly running on fumes.

This accuracy is actually quite a bit better than either of my cages.

Hey

I've been wondering about my gauge as well and now I know i'm not crazy.

In fact, I didn't even know there was a low fuel light! I have a 2009 LXV150 and I've taken it pretty low on fuel (according to the gauge) and it definitely sounds more timid than it does with a full tank, but I've never noticed a low-fuel light!

Wha? emoticon

Thanks!

HELMUT there is a yellow light on the left side of all your "lights" on the top of your instrument cluster. When your fuel level gets low it comes on intermittently then if you ignore it and the fuel level gets lower it stays on. Range is 20-40 from what people say. I've personally gone almost 30 miles but that was on flat ground doing about 40-45mph. Consumption should vary depending on the terrain and how fast you are going i would think. I always fill it when the the light first come on because running out of gas isn't on my fun list

Thanks!

I've been riding on the LXV for over a year now and never knew this. I guess that's good because I haven't been in danger of running out of gas, but it definitely solves the mystery of "how come I can barely put in a gallon of gas when it says it's empty"

Been riding a new (to me) '07 LX150 for a few weeks now and while I knew that the gas gauge was notoriously inaccurate, it's definitely been concerning watching the needle be significantly lower (maybe 1/8-1/4 of a tank) every single time I start it up. Obviously I checked for any sign of a leak on the ground and there wasn't.

I guess from reading this then I should just completely ignore it and just fill up whenever the light comes on? Definitely will take some training for someone like me who has spent a lifetime closely monitoring and obsessing over the trip odometer and gas gauge of every car I've owned!

Hey, go on monitoring and obsessing with the LX. Your other vehicles have been too easy. The Vespa will make for a more "interesting" and challenging game.

Consider it cheap entertainment....my "07 LX shows 3/4 at top up, and it's been a good test of nerves to see how far you can go once the light is on (never pushed yet.... Nerd emoticon ).
