Through the rear boot/trunk reach up at the back of the saddle and push the cable to the side

This would only help if the rear trunk was open. If you've lost the keys it is unlikely to be open. It is especially unlikely to be open in the OP's case as he states that he has an MP3 500 beneath his avatar, despite the avatar showing one of the models with a trunk.

Someone with a 500 PM him how to get in. If it was a 250 I would help.

Me too!
I raised the front of my seat last weekend and evidently, the "seat open" light killed my battery. Put it on a battery tender overnight, but it appears to be dead as a door nail. How can I get to my battery to replace it?

Little confused. Did you lock both of your keys inside, or did you simply run down the battery and still have your key? Because if the latter, just put the key in the ignition, push down, and rotate.

If the latter...you ran it down AND locked you key inside, both at the same time?

Meanwhile, read my posts on the seat-raising mod, I've got a simple switch install detailed that will prevent this from happening again.

Did you put on a battery tender or charger? A tender could take days to charge the battery.

I tried a car charger on 2 amps and the battery didn't budge. Had to buy a new one.

Yes you do. Instructions on page 25 of your owner's manual:

Opening the saddle (01_27)

With the key set to on or off press it and trun it anticlockwise. (you turn ti clockwise for the fuel flap to open no?
