Anyone ever have this happen?

I was riding home from work tonight. Stopped at a traffic light behind a car. A few seconds later, the headlight on the MP3 goes off. Then about 2 seconds after that, it turns back on again.

My first thought is realy. I havent studied the wiring diagram but based on the way the lights work, I am assuming there is a relay activating the light.

Any thoughts?

There is indeed a relay under the hood. Also obviously check the mechanical connections to the lamps themselves. Does this happen to the highbeam as well? One way of the other, that could be a clue.

I am not sure I would start indiscriminantly spraying WD40 into the electrical connections of a relay, though...

Have you done any electrical mods? Messed with battery connections?
If no I would start researching threads where a large # of us have weatherproofed our electrical system. The keywords should be "dielectric grease". I also use liquid tape to seal the back of the connectors from teh elements. My guess is something fishy with your headlamp switch. Try squirting some WD-40 into the switch and operating it a few times to see if it helps. You really need to get that one looked at quick.

Electrical contact cleaner (available at Radio Shack, etc.) and dielectric grease better than WD-40 for this application.

Headlight
Just in case its the same thing. That happened to me. Defective bright dim pass switch. Something to do with a spring inside. Just the button itself not the whole cluster.

Headlight goes out, then comes back on _ bike running
I'll second the motion to check battery connections. Yesterday I rode my Vespa 200GTS to work. It would not start when I prepared to drive home.
My first thought was the new battery had gone dead. Then I thought to check battery terminals. Somehow the negative terminal screw had recently loosened. All I had to do was tighten it back up and everything is fine. Good luck with your repair job.
