Other dealers such as Vespa of Milwaukie (Portland area) have been advertising similar discounts on '09 GTS 250s and LX150s. I imagine any dealer with an '09 still on the floor will discount pretty agressively given that the summer of '10 is coming to an end. Also true that the GTS 250 and carburetted LX150 are, in effect, discontinued models.

I recently got my '09 GTV for $1,000 off.
The local dealer hadn't ordred any inventory for over a year and wanted to get rid of what he had on the floor.
Good for me as I was perfectly happy with an '09, but he didn't even want to discuss ordering a new 300 for my husband.
As a result he bought his from another dealer.

It's a new Vespa promo- $1000 off GTS 250- 09 an older
$1200 off GTV 250- 09 an older

Looks like the used scoot market is going to be slow until this excess inventory is sold off. On Craigslist GTS's range from $4000-$5000

Wait a minute,do you mean the Dealer wouldn't order and sell a 300 to your Husband at regular MSRP? If so WHY? I mean that would have been an actual profitable sell on the 300 vs 1k off the others.

Exactly. He showed no interest whatsoever in ordering a new one as he had a used 300 (S, I think) on the floor. He had very limited inventory (because he hasn't ordered any for over a year). He never even tried to get his name and contact info to follow up.
I think he's one of those guys who likes tinkering with bikes and his dealership ended up taking on scooters a few years back when they became so popular, but he's not a salesman. He inherited the business from his dad.

We were shocked.
I spent a big chunk of change that day, and the first thing I said to my husband was, "Wow; I spent all that money and no one even said "Thank you." to me".

I say wow is right. Bottom line, dealers that want to stay in business need to make their customers feel special. Our local dealers have been great and I appreciate the fact that they remember me having bought two scooters from them in the past. Would not hesitate to go back if I decide to get new rather than used.

Vespa is currently offering $1200 rebates on some 2010 GTV and GTSs.

Not sure how this works; some dealers have been advertising this and others have not, but it was just announced this week.

The rebates apply to limited quantities of specific scooters. It's possible that these are repos from closed dealerships.

Still, could be a good deal-used prices for new scooters.

Also, if you bring a coupon in they'll let you have your photo taken on a Vespa for free.

SOUNDS like a good deal,
except that used prices are now HALF the price of a new scooter!

The deal is for remaining stock of 09 or older new scooters- since they no longer make 250's Vespa is probably giving the dealers a rebate so they will order the new 300's.

It's a real steal if you can get the dealer to waive the "setup" fee.

I know of a GTS 250 Super going on the wholesale block on tuesday......wink wink.

Should be interesting since two months ago the dweedle dum car dealers and their whiny wives bid a 2008 LX50 with 4k up to 3200.

I just stood there mouth agape.

The used market is a strange creature.
