hmmm well i unscrewed the nut under the gas tank and then starting turning the shock until it came off...!? im going to go for a ride right now... i will get back to you..!

Not unknown for the rear shock to undo from the block, did you put the shakeproof washer back in the stack.

Hello

Once you have unscrewed the thread of the shock out as far as it will go so the threaded portion is at maximum, there is a 9mm sprung washer that goes between it and the block (me I always put loctite on the thread as well)or it will unscrew quite quickly.
