Three scooter clubs are holding a rally in my town this weekend. I had a great time meeting new people and riding all over town. On our last stop, we took a break at the lake. All of us parked on a paved lot and sat at picnic tables to rest a bit. 10 minutes into the break we hear the horrible sound of a scoot toppling over. Sadly, it was mine. Luckily I was not on it. It's only paint scratches and a broken grip. It could be worse. But man am I bummed. The center stand sunk into the asphalt and that is how it tipped over. Three other scoots sank but didn't tip. I now have two flattened beer cabs in my pet carrier to place under my kick. It wasn't even that hot today...maybe 95.

That does suck. Hopefully you can get everything buffed out. Could have been worse, from your post title, I thought you got in an accident.

Sorry to hear this happened to your scoot. It's been so hot here I started carrying an expired car tag to use under my center stand. Luckily I've been able to park on the sidewalk a good bit this summer.

That is a really good idea. It will be easier to place than the two cans. I have a few expired plates in the garage. Thanks for the idea. Our city will ticket and tow if you park on the sidewalk

here's a product which hides a stand plate behind the license plate.

Super cool. I only have a centerstand. It's probably not long enough for that, do you think?

Yeah, I figured it fits in the pet carrier, I paid several hundred dollars for it over the last few years so why not make use of it. I use one side a couple of times, then flip it over and use the other side the next couple of times I park. Mine is just a bit wider than the center stand so I'm able to get both feet lined up and sitting on the plate. Might take a couple of times practice to get it lined up right. I also like it because it's easy enough to pick up once I roll my scooter off the plate.

I have to pick and choose my spots for sidewalk parking. I also try not to be too long when I go into a store. I've only had a problem twice, at two different malls in our area.

Probably not now that I think about it.

I found these metal child's garden shovels to be pretty handy.
Dirt cheap, sturdy, and that handle makes them easy to slide under the stand.

I keep a short length of rope around the handle that I loop over the grip when I'm using it as a kickstand plate so I don't ride off without my cute little shovel.

Multi-use, too. A small shovel and rope are a good thing to have along on any camping trip anyway.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate fall...I want to thank you for reminding me to be aware of where I end up parking my scoot...I know a lot of other MV'ers are saying same to themselves.

Glad you weren't on the scoot!

Man that sucks. Sorry to read about your scooter. Have you picked out your decal to cover it yet?

CHEF that blows and lucky it wasn't worse. You really have to be careful on tarmac especially with the horrible temps everybody has been having lately (100's) You can carry a small piece of plywood or a plate like PARROT says. A friend gave me a big rubbermaid shed to store the LX in and i put him in it and the next morning it was leaning against the wall Wha? emoticon The bottom was to soft So i put some thin plywood down. Learned my lesson Hope it doesn't cost much to fix and it's back to it's former beautiful self in no time
