Hi all,

I have my brand new vespa LXV150, 2 month old, 480mile. Today it just started to sound loudly clanky, and i can even throttle more, because it wont let me, and the power goes down.

I checked any loose bolts or other things. Nothing. Everything seems ok.

Here is the youtube video of the problem. Any idea? Thanks!!!

Call your dealer and have them pick it up. It's new and in warranty. Don't mess with it.

That doesn't sound right. I agree with Nightwing, don't mess with it.

You have had something come loose somewhere, I would guess in the tranny.. Most likely they did not prep the variator and belt properly. Worst case is something in the engine came loose,

Do not turn it on any more, get the dealer to fix it and replace the damaged parts. There will be damaged parts....

Good luck with the repairs and do not give up on the scoot, it will ride again!!

Hi everyone! Thank you for your suggestions. Went to dealer. They said the
variator bolt come loose. Under warranty, paid nothing.
But I had to do my first service of oil change and other checkups for $218.
It seemed high to me, but I no choice, had it done

Variator nut loosened?

After they've fixed it, ride your bike hard, as much as possible prior to your warranty expiring. Keep an eye on that sort of thing.

Glad to hear it was not something in the engine. The variator nut coming loose is a direct effect of them not mounting the belt properly. They probably just slapped the belt on, and used the airgun to tighten the nut, without pulling the belt down into the clutch pullies. Hence leaving the belt to get in the way of the variator halfs coming together fully. A loosened Variator Nut, will almost always cause damage, by letting the variator bang into things. Did they let you see inside? (before and after repairs) {Sorry I am super suspicious of mechanics} Did they replace the variator?? or any other damaged pieces?? to include the Trany housing it's self??
Ouch $218 for an oil change service, I am glad I do it myself....

All in all I am glad your back on the road, riding your great scoot everywhere you can!!

If I read it correctly, the scooter was brand new with just a few hundred miles on it. The dealer had no reason to pull the variator apart, therefore, they wouldn't have slapped the belt on and hit it with an airgun.

The first service involves more than just an oil change and usually runs around $160, so the $218 is a bit high, but may be in keeping with the area he lives in. Some parts of the country are higher in dealer fees.

The Pre-delivery check list doesn't include checking the variator, so I'd blame the factory's QC as well.

OP doesn't say where they live.

Perhaps San Francisco Vespa and their $400 rear tire change also has a fabulous special price of $200 for a 1st service?
