Modern Vespa

The below was passed onto me by a good friend and I sent it out to a number of folks close to me and had second thoughts about posting on MV...however the response back was signifcant so I will post...maybe you've see it...it's well done...very impactful...pass it on if you deem it appropriate.

Perhaps this should be the same message regarding cell phone / texting while driving...

This needs to passed around to every human being who has the keys to a vehicle and the capability of driving while under the influence with impaired judgment and the possibility of causing a life changing incident to happen to everyone he or she comes in contact with while in this condition.


This is perhaps one of the most intense commercials that I've ever seen and it's well made. I hope that by passing this along to others, that it will make a difference and if just one life is saved, it will all be worth the effort to simply hit "send" and maybe save a life today or tomorrow or in the future.. I think that Australia should be complemented on having the guts to "tell it like it is" and get this campaign out to all of it ' s licensed drivers and to air it on TV...it is very moving and very lifelike so it has a very strong impact.

We normally get our share of the Ozzie produced Road Safety campaigns but I had not seen that compilation

Sadly latest research says that the "It won't happen to me though" culture has rendered these shock campaigns less effective to Gen Y.

For those who have viewed this video...I know it can be intense and emotionally a challenge...my wife cried after viewing it and she told me she felt an equal amount of pain for the victims, Family and Friends of the victims as well as the individuals who was driving...they were all victims...they all suffered.

Regardless...she's sending to all her friends...if there's a chance it can save a life...then so be it...

Don't drink and ride is applicable as don't drink and drive.

As a rider, always expect the unexpected. Always have an out. Always be focused.

Sobering - I wish

As a retired cop, I've seen too much of the after mat of stupid driver and rider decisions. Partly explains my beliefs in doing the smart things in the saddle and my lack of understanding those who believe they are somehow immune from anything bad happening to them. As far as drinking and riding, I just don't. This is probably the toughest of the safety decisions I've made. Much tougher than completely suiting up on a 100 plus degree day when a tee shirt and shorts would feel good. I like a beer or drink as much as anyone. But I also know you have to be at your sharpest to survive riding two wheels in traffic. So despite having to attend some happy hour get-togethers where everyone else gets a pleasant buzz on, I'm drink a coke and wish I could join them with the real thing. But I've seen the results of such behavior too many times in real life. So once I'm home for the night, I catch up with a few cool ones. I know it's not quite the same but I'm safely home and neither my day nor anyone else's was ruined.

The Traffic Accident Commision in Victoria (VIC) here in Australia is well known for doing intense, clever and strong road safety ads. Unfortunatly here in Queensland (QLD) the transport dept is weak as anything with thier campains, and whenever I see one of them, I cringe.


The main messages - no, the ONLY messages here in QLD are 'speed kills', and 'drink and drive, you're an idiot', which is true, however it's more then just plain speeding

I wish that QLD made ad's as good as the TAC. The TAC should be given awards for thier ads.

I started getting chills watching that TAC ad, and I'll be sending it to all my motorcycle friends.

Many people criticize riding as being too dangerous, yet think nothing of drinking and driving (or texting etc.). These warnings cannot be stressed enough.

Chilling, really. We should all take something away from this... I am posting this on my FB page. Hate to ruin peoples nights but its worth it if it saves just one life.

I'm an Aussie where these adds are shown. Although we cop a barrage of these adds on TV each week they have slowly changed my habits and no doubt saved me and possibly others from grief.

Those are totally freaking awesome videos. What a powerful message.

They should show that during the Superbowl here in the US instead of the usual crap they do. I was an EMT for 6 years before I ever was a nurse, and our Medic squad hated Superbowl Sunday because all the drunk guys who get on the road.

Of course our NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) wouldn't have the balls to do something like that, and offend delicate American sensibilities.

Better yet, show it in all the movie theaters before the NC-17, and R-rated flicks.
