Modern Vespa

I finally got around to checking my fuel mileage yesterday. My odometer read 1873 miles when I topped off the tank with fuel. Went on a dinner run with a few of my GWRRA friends. We rode a leisurely pace(mostly 55-60mph) on two lane rural highways. When I got back my odometer read 2003 miles and it took 1.6 gallons to fill up. I am very impressed!!! 8)

Sorry to be the one to rain on your parade, but fuel economy calculations based on one tankful -- particularly on a very small tank like a scooter's -- are nearly meaningless. There is just no way to refill the tank to the same level each time with any degree of precision without overfilling it.

Try calculating it over at least several tankfuls. Then -- if you get figures that high -- I'll be celebrating along with you!

You'll notice that a number of folks here have a tag in their signature that shows the mpg for their scoot. This comes from fuelly.com. It's an easy way to track your fuel usage/mileage. The first time I measured my mileage I got 71 mpg. The next time was 66. After a few more fillups it's averaging out to 69.5.
