I get emails regularly from all sorts of animal rescue groups and I am signed up as a sponsor and foster home for the Pig Placement Network. I was very surprised to open up todays' email to find this fundraiser/raffle/win a scooter promo.

I SWEAR I had nothing to do with it but I kind of wish I did, as it's a great idea. I own and love two pigs, my two children, Dixie and Oliver. Growing up on a horse farm we always had a pet pig. To me, it was normal but many people buy "miniature pigs" with out realizing what they are getting into or under false advertising thinking they will stay small and these fad pets end up in shelters, where the shelters are often not equipped to deal with a pig or don't understand how to. These placement networks are run by crazy people, like me, who's pet pigs are part of their family.

Pigs in a blanket is a common scene in our home in the winter time here in New York.

Dixie and Oliver are no different from our cats!

The pic of Dixie with her head in the feed bag is typical of what would happen if we ever (God forbid!) left the cat food bag open for a "free for all" feeding binge.

We have six cats...Blackie, Coco, Tiger Boy (TB; he's the pic for my Avatar), Oreo, Junior and Bozu...

Awwwwww! What an awesome rescue organization for such an extraordinary creature. Thanks for the mailing address - just sent a check off because we don't work with PayPal. Why is the theme song from Green Acres running through my head with this thread? Our daughter raised 4-H pigs for 4 years- Freckles, Lavender, Tinkerbell, and Tiffany. The last day of fair was always sad.

The Pig Placement Network raised $8,000 which will help go to feed the 150 some pigs they have to take care of on a regular basis.

Thank you to everyone that purchased a ticket and to all the nasty people who sent me immature messages here and elsewhere about pigs and this being spam...I hope one day when you or when one of your relatives needs a swine heart valve transplant or gets severely burned and receives recombined swine/human skin graft you stop and perhaps realize there's more to this animal than a pork chop on your plate.

Thanks for highlighting such a deserving charity and posting the pics! My daughter Becca Penelope liked the last one in particular.
