Modern Vespa

OK, so I sell my "manly" dark gray Yamaha Vino 125 and buy a 2006 LX150 with 196 miles on it. A little step up in scooterdom for me. It's Aurora Blue. Probably not my 1st color choice but it is what it is. Scooter is like new, price is fair, I'm happy. Get it home and my wife and son-in-law both say it's a girly color ! Are they right or is it just Vespa envy ? I like the scoot, repainting it is not an option. How do I "Man it up" ? Put a floor mat on it-black is good-right ? A Fly Screen is to follow. Thought or suggestions ?

Tell them that you are secure enough in your manhood that you don't need to have your scooter color tell you what sex you are.

I think the Aurora colour is lovely and not in the least girly. Go for it. Now if it were pink, that would be a much more difficult decision.

I say get on your scooter and ride....

It's a scooter, it does not define you, it does not determine your gender, it does not determine who you will love.

It's FUN, fuel efficient, transportation that they just don't understand. AKA... Jealous.

Since when is Blue considered girly? If you like it, keep it that color, if not change it!

Personally since you are asking, I do think it's a girly color. You could probably man it up a bit for little $ with some graphics.

Obviously, the color was not a problem for you, or you would not have bought the scooter.

It is a problem for them and VEZPA. So let them deal with it.

The bigger problem is that such insecure utterance is coming from your son-in-law, so it is an issue for your daughter. Let her know so she can keep an eye on his insecurities.

I own one of the rarer "Azulo" LX 150.

I don't think blue is an unmanly color at all, but then again, I'm biased.

If the GTS or GTV had come in that color, I would have bought one (and I am a 6'1"/225 lb male). I owned a Porsche 911 in the late 70's that was a similar color and I thought it looked great.

Nah, I dig that colour. Is it the light metallic blue? Vespas are meant to be fun not dull.

You could add one sticker saying something like:

IF YOU THINK THIS IS A GIRLY COLOR, GO SEE YOUR SHRINK!

I hate to say it but there are those who judge Vespa riders based on the fact they are on a Vespa, regardless of scooter color.

I have endured several slurs because my LX is Daring Plum and I have been called names to my face. It was upsetting at first but now it doesn't bother me.

the plastic pieces Black to off set the
Blue color. 1. Engine skirts 2. Horn cover 3. Front fender
A quarter fly screen wouldn't hurt either, Then a Black floor mat.

Appreciate all the positive suggestions. Vezpa, I like the stripe idea. Really don't want to get into repainting anything as knowing me I'll be on to a GTS as soon as I find a similar deal.

Yea any good vinyl sign shop can make almost anything you can come up with. You can even get reflective black vinyl tape to make it stand out in the dark for safety.

Nothing wrong with that color. The only Vespa colors I have a problem with are pink (THAT's girly) brown ( I just don't like anything that's brown) and yellow (not really girly, just not my thing)

Sorry to say this, but some people will already think your gay just for owning a scooter. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay. Just go have fun and don't worry about what people think.

It's also totally based on your style...if you play your style right ontop the scooter, it might just look like ur just all hip n shit. Get some aviators first off, and if your cool and manly enough people will dig the scooter in a funny/ironic/confident/"take me to the beach" kinda way...

That was the first of two Scorpion, which only lasted about 700 miles each. Don't get one! Search for scorpion and my username for the ordeal.

Now that you mention it, I am pretty gay when I ride my scooter. Just think of what people go through to be this gay, when all they have to do is get scooter

A couple of years ago, I surprised my wife for her birthday with an LXV-150 in Sienna Ivory. Fast forward to now - she didn't really click with it, so I've been riding it.

I've had a few folks give me the "it's a girly color" crap, but I've learned to shrug them off. And the 150 can leave them far behind when the light turns green!

The fact that I'm currently trying to move into a GTS 300 Titanium has nothing to do with the color, I swear, it's more about the power!

Just go take a ride on your scoot, and if it puts a smile on your face, then forget what others say. That shade of blue is a retro color that could be found on many different makes of cars and motorcycles all through the 70's to the 90's so don't worry about it.
Don't put a mat on it... (Just MPO) But the stripe Idea is perfect way to vintage up the general look of the scoot, and will take away a great deal of girlyishness, that might or might not be persieved by those who are gelous of the scooter....
