I would say blue is a fantastic color. I would also add that anybody that thinks their scooter is "manly or macho" is more fucked up than the rest of us.

We ride scooters, deal with it.

I'm so glad I posted this question earlier today. This is the best entertainment I've had in a while...Guess I hit a nerve with a few members.

Color choice is a fine line for a guy on a scooter. Could always tell people you're just borrowing it.

That said, nothing that can't be fixed with a couple rattle cans of flat black.

Gee, who'd have thought in the Vespa community there'd be so many men so insecure they thought the color of their scooter would make them seem less masculine?

If you're genuinely concerned about it-to the point where you care about others' opinions-then you might just lack the confidence and cojones to ride Aurora.



Aurora was only available in '06 and is probably the rarest (non-special edition) LX color.

No problems with my self image...never gave the color a 2nd thought till my wife and son-in-law made the light-hearted comments. Beyond that I'm having a lot of fun with these responses. Can't believe this many people chimed in. Didn't know it was a 1 year color for the LX in 06. I like that. Wonder how long this thread will last. Not only the Vespa but now the replies are putting a smile on my face ! Thanks to all !!!

I know you said you wouldn't repaint... but spray that puppy "salmon" and you'll be rocking the "I'm secure in my masculinity" thing fully.

When it comes to Scooters, the color doesn't seem to matter to some people. I'm a Captain at my fire house, and when I first rolled up to the fire house (which is in Greece, where the norm is for men to wear extremely tight fitting t-shirts and drink frappes) I took so much crap from both the US and Greek firefighters for riding a scooter (which most of my Greek counter parts ride Beverly's!). Finally, I just told them that my only disappointment was that the 300 didn't come in pink. It was met with fist bumps and high fives. Of course there is still one malaka that likes to shout "stay gay" as I ride home every other day. He rides a Sym and really looks gay with his lame handlebar moustache!

Best way to man up your scoot is man up yourself. Leave her untouched and just ride. If people take the piss just go with it. Don't try to explain or argue. Laugh with them and they won't know what to do or say next. Go about your business and people will just think... "dude"

Don't let them mix you up with someone who gives a fook.

IMO, before you can even get to considering the color aspect of one's scooter, you FIRST have to deal with the fact that you ride a SCOOTER. I mean there are people who think scooters themselves are for women, regardless of a scooter's color, even if it's a 'manly' color. They think it's just fine for women to ride scooters (Vespas included of course) but if a man does, he must be gay. Or maybe AC/DC at best.

Regardless -- and as others have opined above -- there isn't anything you can do with people who think like that, so it comes down to what YOU think. If YOU are okay with it, then that's all that matters.

BHEMMIS is that possible (fookless) Color is a personal choice and screw anybody who doesn't like the color i ride. That said that azzuro is really blue and in person i didn't like it but then again i ride a purple scooter so what do i know Whatever you get enjoy it

Azzuro is totally girly. We're talking about the far superior aurora color here.

ERIC not awake yet I haven't seen the aurora up close is it a robin's egg kinda blue? I'm not a blue person but i LOVE the midnight blue. AZZURO gave me a headache just watching it and it was a guys bike We have a local arts festival once a year and they were just leaving. Had his GF on the back. It was about 4yrs ago and it was the first vespa i had ever seen out here.

I'm totally kidding. The difference between aurora and azzuro is pretty subtle and almost indiscernible in the shade. Aurora is a tad lighter and more metallic.

For whatever reason, Vespa has had at least 4 shades of light blue for the LX series, including a new one this year, Celeste. I haven't seen it in person but online it appears to be a slightly darker, greyer version of azzuro.

ERIC i know you were kidding and your right what's up with all the blue's I would be interesting to have them all lined up and i bet they'd be real close in color to one another. I guess the Italians like making up new names for things

A man riding a Vespa already has "hotness" points just from what's between his legs, and I mean scooter.... I think having (as you macho men refer to) a "girly" color will just lure the ladies to either ride with you or borrow it often. So what if the dudes want to ride with you also...

I also own a 2006 LX 150 Aurora Blue. Before my husband had his Black 250 he rode mine for a year and a half, no problem. Honestly, we thought the color was "borderline." It wasn't quite girly, but on the edge. The color is great and in San Diego I have only seen 2 others the same color. I added 60s influenced mod stickers to the design, and because they were "modish" they did not reek of femininity. Also, as some have stated, some are going to make fun of scooters anyway; those who are insecure in their own manhood always make fun of others. It's part of an adolescence they haven't grown out of.

Well, BleuBelle would have to agree about Azzuro. Although she's plenty feisty.
But then again, both my scoots are 'girls' anyway...
