So I've decided to bite the bullet and sell off my VB1 piece-meal, since I'm pretty much already upside down on the scoot and have some serious work ahead.
I originally purchased the VB1 thinking it'd be a relatively easy resto, until I got it home and realized the entire bottom of it was rotted out. Yes, I know, I should have looked closer. I removed the rotted section (I drilled out ~120 rosette welds and went through 4 body shop drill bits) and purchased a replacement piece from Italy. And 3 years later that's where it's sitting now. Completely disassembled, bottom of the floor removed and awaiting body work and paint.
A brief run down of what I have for sale (prices are each + shipping):
2x motor side cowls - $75 dented/bent, $100 excellent shape
1x storage side cowl - $80 with bent door, $100 w/good door
2x storage side cowl doors (1 really bent, 1 really good)
2x front fenders - $60 dented, $100 good
1x NOS front fork (still has wax on the threads) - $100
2x Y flywheel covers, 1 slightly and 1 excellent - $50 bent, $75 excellent
1x complete air box - $75
1x rear half of air box only - $40
1x froze motor, original to scoot (don't know extent of problem, broken shifter unit, no kick start lever) - $250
1x supposedly rebuilt motor. Looks excellent, good compression, I turn it over every couple of weeks and have a small amount of oil in the piston. - $750
1x broken speedo. Glass missing, needle broke, face faded. Appears rebuildable - $120
1x headset - $75
1x set of headset tubes - $40
1x broken seat - $75
1x rear seat frame - $60
1x brake light, no lenses (has light for license plate) - $40
2x aluminum engine shrouds - $125
1x ferrous engine shroud - $50
1x complete original electrical switch - $100
1x gas tank (interior surface rust, no holes, very good condition) - $75
and a lot of small odds and ends, all labeled and numbered.
If somebody thinks I'm way off in price, over or under, let me know as prices are OBO. Not a whole lot of this stuff comes up for sale often so I priced it where I'd pay for it if I needed the part to finish a scoot. I just honestly want to recoup some of my cash and put it towards a twist and go the wife can ride. I paid over $900 for the rebuilt engine alone plus a ton more for all the extra rare parts like the Y-flywheel covers, airbox, cowels, engine shrouds.
I would definitely love to sell the engines locally and will drive up to 150 miles to meet someone, they are a PITA to ship but I'm willing to do it.
If someone is in the Chicago area and wants the entire lot, it's yours for $1500 cash. A shit ton less than what I paid for everything.
Here's a link to some of the pictures, I have closeups of everything and can get more info so let me know if there's something you want.
