If I do not hit 500-miles before the snow flies... should I just store the GTS300 and wait until the spring to perform the 1st service?

you have Lots of time to put some miles on it before any kind of snow. After the last ride of the season always change the oil for long term storage thru the winter. This way all the bad crap that gets in the oil is not just sitting in there all winter long. Corresives and what nots.

Usually you can find good service deals in the late fall/early winter, and you'll pay full retail in spring due to demand.

The nice thing about snow is that it melts . . . allowing you to ride on the warmer winter days . . .

I never officially winterized mine because I never stopped riding.

I think you're safe. I ride until the first week in Dec. before the snow sticks.

Do you keep a trickle charger on it in the winter?

Yes and no. I don't leave it hooked up continuously.

I top off the batteries on all of my PTW's one time per week year-round with a trickle charger.

Work is 10 miles each way--not long enough to maximize charging.

I would do it before if you don't hit 600 but i bet you will. Amazing how many little pieces of metal you find in the old oil. Put some SeaFoam in it and run it thru before you put it to sleep for the winter also. Who knows maybe you'll get lucky and have a mild winter. Well all bets are off if you live in sarnac lake, buffalo or syracuse Laughing emoticon You'll definitely get a lot of snow in those places Crying or Very sad emoticon

It's August, for gosh sake! Why wouldn't you hit 500 by the end of the week (let alone the month)?
