I moved out and went over seas and a friend of mine was supposed to pick up my primavera to store it in the first week, but some workers were paid to clean out the yard it was sitting in and it was gone.. poof!.. I had the carb off and the tank removed, and the wiring harnest disconnected.. my guess.. dumped somewhere.. can I use the regi papers to locate it in case someone has used the numbers to regi it??

Yeah, at the least you could call the DMV in the state it was registered or lost in (or AAA if you have it) and ask if its still registered and to whom.

I'm not sure why but I smell fish... and I keep getting the image of someone reading MrMoi's reply, getting up and driving a Prim to the scrap heap. Maybe I'm just crazy or something.

Since that actress was shot and killed by a random guy getting her info from DMV, it is a little harder to get any info out of them, even about your own vehicle with your mom and the Governator are standing there saying - yes this is him.
There was a point 2 years ago when a running bulldozer was worth more in scrap metal (so we could sell the scrap overseas @ .01/100wt & they could make the bay bridge to sell back to us @ $4/lb) than it was as a rental and/or income producing vehicle. Scrap was worth something. Although I really believe it went to be mixed with some lead and turned into a propshaft on a micro helicopter, I'd talk to the police about it - say exactly what you did, 'it went missing on about this date, and I'm just back in the country,' Is it currently on the road or can I report it stolen- what are the implications? It may be reported taken under weird circumstances/not stolen, so the DMV won't register it. If you're outside of CA, they'll probably give you tons of info. |

How much time elapsed between the time you left the scooter there and when it was hauled off? Did you try and contact the property owner to find out who cleaned out the yard? If Yes did you ask them what they did with the moped? |

Although I really believe it went to be mixed with some lead and turned into a propshaft on a micro helicopter.. thats an unusually interesting breakdown. its an interesting idea also from a sociological view, I mean if you think of a vespa in terms of its history becoming some mere material in some random thing.. |

at mike z:
the bike was hauled away by some central american guys hired by the owners to clear the back of the building.. the property belonged to some pakistani businessmen who at that time had recently bought the building.. they told me that it wasnt their problem and basically told me to beat it.. I had been gone for just under a year so I didnt pursue it any further, I figured it was sitting in some scrap yard in richmond or oakland somewhere etc.. its the typical orange deal with the ugly stock turn signals etc.. |
