I took my 2007 LX150 along with a Malossi 190 kit into Moto Amore this morning.
I guess I just had to tell someone!

Thanks,
Chuck

Nice! You should bring it out to Trials Pub on a Tuesday night once it's done, to show it off to all us scooter trash types hanging out there.

FUN! I bet you're going love the extra oomph that kit will give your LX. It will feel like a new scooter. Good luck on the open heart surgery your scooter is undergoing. 8)

Love to hear your thoughts once you get it back. I've been thinking of investing in the same kit. Can't wait to hear the update!

I know you'll like the new performance of your scoot. I did the same to my ET4 earlier this year. Had a few problems due to the age of the scoot, but now that everything has been brought to like new condition... it's just about the fastest scoot around.... 83.3 mph gps.

That's awesome! I'm definitely going to have to chat you up about it sometime. I think we must live fairly close to one another, as I always see you on your scoot around town, but mostly on Park Ave. I'm always in my car, though, so I can't ever wave! I know it's you, though, by the chrome bits you've added. Plus, I'm just to the point now where I recognize *you*, scary as that may be! I live off Hedding...

Exciting, isn't it? The most worthwhile mod ever!

Aaron, that's funny! Wave anyway. I'll figure it out (eventuallly). I live on Sierra, off Park.

And Silver Streak, you're partially to blame for this mod. Your posts about it over time were enough to convince me it's a reliable mod.

You'll love it!

I did this mod on my Derbi Boulevard a couple years ago.

Put about 4000 trouble free kms on it before I sold it.

Didn't increase my top speed but it sure was a hell of a ride getting up there!

Cheers,
Dan

Dave, how fast does your 150 go (indicated) since your 190 upgrade?

Will do! I'll be in a BRG Mini S convertible with a green top (sorry - BRG: British Racing Green) and black bonnet stripes.

I'm pretty conservative about how I go about measuring top speed. Not far from where I live is a 6-lane stretch of US 50 approaching the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that is dead level and about 2 miles between exits. My usual routine for top speed is to hop on there, wring it out, and then get off at the next exit. Then I get back on going the other way and do the same. Then I average the speeds of both runs to eliminate wind influence (I usually shoot for a near-calm day before I do one of these). I don't tuck.

I weigh 225, have the Polini upgear kit installed, and a Polini variator set up more for low-end grunt with relatively light weights (11.5g Dr. Pulleys). The scooter has a small flyscreen, but is pretty aerodynamically inefficient due to front and rear crash bars, front and rear racks, and a soft top case.

That said, I reliably hit 75 mph indicated (a bit more on a good day) with any influence of non-level ground or wind averaged out. If I simply watch the speedometer on a long, flat-out, cross-country run I'll often see speeds in the 80s on what I am sure are slightly downhill or wind-assisted segments, but that doesn't count in my book.

My goal was to set the scooter up to be more versatile for long-range touring, while still having good grunt around town. The intent of the upgear kit was to keep the rpms at a more relaxed range on the highway for reliability, not for top speed. I'm certain I could get another 5 mph out of it by simply going to heavier variator weights, but I'm not interested in going that fast on an LX chassis, thank you, and it would make the scooter less fun to ride around town. When I see the speedo pass 80, it scares the crap outta me, and I back off. God never intended man to travel that fast on wheels that small!

Aaron, I'll keep my eyes open. Minis are way cool. We need a bit more room, so I may just buy a Jetta TDI wagon next week to replace my old Golf. BTW, we've got a 2001 BRG Miata!
Silver, I'm not much interested in top speed. It's acceleration, baby! That's what I'm looking for.
