I think the phrase "bring a trailer" is a very apt one for some of the bodgery we see. Don't take that trailer back to your brother-in-law, it'll come in useful sooner than you think.

This "racist" thing gets a run pretty often by people who have no idea whatsoever.

funny that they thought they could reverse the two tone and somehow it would be the "anti bodge"

It may be an anti-bodge, but it has to be synced with a positive bodge to have a meaningful effect, and even then, all you get is nothingness.

Aside from the colors, they all sort of look the same to me. I actually "restored" a metallic yellow/pearl white one for a guy two years ago. What a trip that was.

"replaced her original engine with a brand new Stella" so… original motor not worth rebuilding?

It reminds me of a guy i met who built his own aluminum block GM V12 LS engine. I got to look at it first hand in his shop. He was getting it ready to swap into an old 72 Datsun 240Z. He literally was a mad scientist!

I got annoyed literally at the first second by his crappy $15 tach in the opening shot.

The channel is called "let's learn something," but I feel like I mostly learned that just because you *can* do something doesn't mean you *should*.

Still, now I wanna see him build the sort of 20-wheeled crew-served monster scooter that befits a motor like that one.

today, let's learn what we can do with: a lathe, tig welding skills and infinite free time.

it's like all the youtoobs: this is easy I just used [insert wildly expensive specialist tool or skill]. or 4here's how I spent $500 modding my $400 harbor freight cabinet now it's just as good as a skat blast $1200 cabinet (hint: it's not)

although I will say the slicing of the crank case with an angle grinder had me full on "no way guy" but apparently, it worked...

That blew me away pretty seriously, too. And then he didn't add back in a spacer for all the material he removed, just a paper gasket.

I also have some questions about how all those new motors turned into a bunch of completely clapped out old parts during the assembly process, but whatev's.

You know, I get that part. If you've got tools, use them -- this wasn't a how-to video aimed at novice engine bodgers, so I can't really hold his choice of tools against him.

What really bothers me is that at almost every junction -- and even with vaguely appropriate tools in hand -- he chose the Path of the Bodge. He warped the two halves of the "case" by over-welding them, he assembled the crank shaft with fucking set screws, the alignment of the case parts with a big round pin was haphazard at best, and on and on.

I kept throwing up in my mouth a little at every turn.
