Paint is definitely not original... it's certainly priced like a bodge.

Not a bodge. You do not see the US-only post taillight on bodge imports. Tough to tell from the pictures, but this bike also appears to have the US fuel tap -- black plastic handle, rather than metal. And it has the reflectors on the front mudguard. All indicators of a US-sold bike. I have a 1982 P200E that I bought from a guy in Orange County a few years ago and it had all of the same features (as well as a sticker on the inside from the original dealership in Anaheim!).

Enjoy, and ride the crap out that bike.

Hi all..

I wanted to ask your opinion on this scoot. I am leery because there is something not right. There is a missing oil indicator glass and I am not sure what that black ropelike thing is. Any thoughts?

All the best...

Nothing wrong with that P200. It's a Euro model, which means it does not have oil-injection (no oil sight glass). I think the black rope thing is a cable lock or something.

It is on the expensive side for a P200 though. For that price it better look pristine.

Cool that it still has European plates.....

yes. you use a mixing cup like this

and every time you fill your gas tank, you add the corresponding amount of oil to the tank.

for the white one...check california registration also to see if it will be easy to register

I think the scoot has to have 7500 miles to not be considered a "new" vehicle, no matter what year. if considered new, it might be hard to get a calif registration because of california emissions standards.

while the white one is pretty, and the price is fair for the condition, I'd go with the blue one because mechanically it's probably the same as the white one. and it costs a LOT less.

you can pick up a couple of racks for like $100 on scoot.net if you really need them.

New mediocre paint job from previous owner. Wasn't sure about bondo. Was ridden hard by a cop in Barcelona. 22,000 km on odometer. Just didn't feel iike it was for me.

my guess would be for the price difference, he can buy a kit, reed block, pipe, new paint job, and a rack, and have a better bike than the white P200.

and it has a CA title.

Yeah I wondered about the paint - I don't think "Tan" was ever a factory color for P200s.

Like I said, for that kind of money, it better be pretty flawless.

FTR - I know that Bar Italia had a couple of P200's with *seriously* low miles for sale back in the fall - might be worth calling them if you would rather have a 200 than a 150.
