Remember, the point of bodge spotting is to use cosmetic cues that suggest crappy work underneath.
The allstate has clearly been converted to 10in wheels and who knows what else, but at least it still has all the right body parts and it's unlikely to have a million miles on it and been patched back together. At least they resisted the urge to install these "crash bars". I think these have to be The Number One tell of a bodge out there. It saddens me that Allstyles even sells them, and to say that they are "REMADE TO ULMA SPEC" borders on criminal. You will not find anything of the sort in any Ulma or other original catalog. Bolting the "crash bars" to the cowl makes them them worthless at providing any protection as they will just bend or rip the cowl the first time they hit the ground. ![]() ![]() |

From what I see in the photo it has an eight inch front still with a shock so someone made the front fork swap. The rear has a ten inch motor in it but some installed the rim backwards, the wide side is out. It's an Allstate, so that price tag is way to high.

Reckon this is a bodge? Apart from the new mirrors I'm not really sure.

I'd say small frame with custom panels and the rest of it . . . well . . . ?? It's got small frame forks & engine . . . But the kick start is in an unusual place for a small frame engine . . . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vespa-50-1967-E-/310707360313?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item48579a1239 |

Hi,
Here is a step inthe right direction This is an eBay ad in Australia Nothing to sell here just a warning to potential Vespa buyers. Beware of the so called " original Vespa" for sale. Most Vintage Vespa's on this website are Asian restored Vespas that could be death traps and not worth anything. Things to look out for 1. 2 tone paintwork 2. Glove box where spare wheel was 3. 10 inch wheels 5. lots of chrome. Vespa never used chrome 6. winged Piaggio badge on leg shield. 9. Lots of bumper guard bling 10. Indicators 11. People claiming they are original Rule number 1 if you can't see it in the flesh don't buy it. Get a person who knows Vespa to guide you These Vespas should only sell for $2000 or less. These so called original Vespas will cost you lots of money to fix and they could be a death traps. Posted with eBay Mobile ![]() |

A friend of mine bought one, had it shipped over from India and it's an awesome bike... really nice, solid and fast... he said the smell of curry in the crate was overwhelming and the bike smelled of it for some time after... no surprise and no joke... but he's very happy with... I'd consider getting one from his source when the time comes for sure.

that white lambretta looks really nice! Looks like an Innocenti LI. Hard to tell from the photos, but looks remarkably clean. It lacks any of the hallmarks of a bling-y restoration.
and Indian GPs (at least the ones that were imported to the US new) tend to be good bikes. You might want to look it over very carefully, but it could conceivably be okay... Might be the photos, but looks like the front fork is at a weird angle... like too up/down when it should be a 45 degree angle. Why is Scoot.net down half the time I go there? |
