I've never been able to identify Supers or Sports. What do you guys think of this one?

Not digging the seat cover ([redacted]?) but US spec turn signals are always a good sign. I'd say not a bodge. The bar end lights and speedo make me think it's a Japanese bike.

He mentioned the seat being a custom piece he had made. Refused to comment when I asked him if he was happy with how the motor rebuild came out from Blue Smoke Garage. Why are scooter folk so weird on the phone?

I'd say not a *real* bodge, but FWIW those are not US spec turn signals... on the rear the stems are wrong, on the front there should be holes in the headset for the front signals and they are not there.

You're right. The signals should be chrome. Looks like a solid bike.

No chance it is a custom seat.
The seat is from [redacted] or somewhere in Vietnam, I like the style, and hunted once for one, and it popped up.

Can someone please help. I am thinking about buying this Vespa but want to know exactly what it is. I'm having trouble. Is it a Sprinter it looked like a super to me. I know it's probably different parts from different years, like the seat? Lost and need some guidance. New at this and making my first purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There are many of these on the Miami Craigslist, nearly all with the same rear rack and tire holder. The scary thing about this one is not only clean title, but the antique plate!

Not totally sure
This one looks pretty nice but something not quite right.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/for/4374417194.html

Maybe just the rear rack throwing it off.

Yeah, something is weird there. Might be the 10" rear wheels with the 1" front...

you see the red switches on the throttle side? Thats Bajaj

I would guess its a step up from a bodge, not a huge one or anything, but still not a total piece

Ok not technically a bodge but I love this guys description... "Bike needs to be Painted and Maybe a Tune up, nothing major just oil change mostly."

Also should have mentioned that aquaman was a previous owner. sheer juevos.

What is the connection with bodges and two tone paint jobs? Is that just what bodgers consider classically 'vintage' or are bikes with two tone paint jobs easier to sell to unsuspecting buyers?

Two tone paint jobs = S.E Asia stylin', pimp, or whatever you want to call it. If your scoot is your only ride, you want it to stand out from the crowd. I guess.

Seem so. That and the over-abundance of accessories, like a legshield glovebox on every scoot regardless of model or year. People who don't know better have no idea what belongs and what doesn't.

Interesting... so there was a time when people actually thought they didn't look ridiculous. Kind of like Dolphin shorts.

Not a bodge. A plate check shows it was first registered in New Zealand in 1965. Mind you, could be an NZ bodge

This looks fishy... Looks like someone put sprint or super cowls on the wrong frame?

http://nh.craigslist.org/mcy/4412289498.html

I have a restored Vespa Sprint 150.

This was a nut and bolt restoration. There are a few scratches on the front fender ... but nothing major.

I would not call this a show piece ... but a nice useable vespa.

It will need just a little tuning but it does run good and is ready to go.

No lowball offers please. May trade for a nice 4wd ATV.

$3200 oBRo

Hi Ace Rimmer,
To my knowledge it was in 1962 on the GS 160

Thanks for the info, there are a lot of potential bodges here in Florida, most of them are Sprints and most have gloveboxes, p centermats and or ill fitted floorboard matts, lml engines and more chrome than a caprice classic in a NWA video.
