That seat vinyl looks like it's made from an old, used shower curtain.

another lie
This is one of the harder one to spot as a bodged from Nam. The owner may have spent sometime to de-bodge it.
Just for fun, I contacted seller and caught him off guard. As usual, seller refused to say he imported from Vietnam. He went on the history of vespa from europe then claimed Sprint is the US market scoot.

There are parts of the vespa proved otherwise

1) chrome accessories (leg shield trim, crest, gear selector cover, flywheel cover, trims on cow and fender, legstand, rear & front hub covered with chrome plate)
2) used wrong light switch
3) center mat is being bolt down
4) ignition key switch above the choke
5) fork link cover is very typical in Nam
6) spare tire cover is also very typical in Nam
7) taillight cover - from taiwan made company, very common in SEA
8 ) US market Sprint has different tail light and round headlight. (there may be exception)

1967 Other Makes Sprint 150
Price:US $3,500.00

*price negotiable - though I've invested close to $3,000 fixing it up*

I am parting ways with my precious 1967 Vespa Sprint 150 which has been excellently maintained and upgraded. This is a VLB model with the highly sought-after and more rare, trapezoidal headlight. She's a beaut! This scooter has the old "one-up, three-down" shifting and being as old as it is, it requires learning the small idiosyncrasies of clutch/shift/throttle balance (like any scooter/motorcycle) but once you do.....watch out! It hauls a$$.

It has a rebuilt engine (Malossi kit) which makes it a 166.6 now and a newer Sito Plus P125X sport exhaust that let's it hit 75MPH pretty easily, maybe more - the needle gets buried after 120km/hr and it still pulls. It is a premix engine needing at least a 4% mixture which keeps the spark plugs clean yet still delivers great power. It's easy to measure the bit of oil to pour in the gas tank - I'll include a measuring cup specifically for the mixture. You'll see the upgraded super corsa sport seat which is more sleek and sits two more comfortably than the stock double seat. The tires are newer sport tires and have great grip. On some of the chrome pieces (easily replaceable) there is light rust from living by the beach for so long but it's in great shape otherwise. Comes with the spare tire and storage pouch on it. It also has a built-in, lockable saddle/cowling storage container.

It is registered and insured and has been since I first bought it in 2007. I have service records since then and almost all work has been done at Bartels' Route 66 Riders on Lincoln. I'll even throw in the Haynes manual for it and two books on tuning/maintaining vintage Vespas. (I've moved onto my early 70s motorcycles now and need space, sadly)

It only had 1,400 kilometers on it when I first bought it. I put another 2,600kms on it or so.

unrestored so sad.... some people are bidding on it.

We have a newbie just joined our group. He purchased his VBC 2 months ago from a guy who got it from a "reputable" seller in VietNam. The scoot now has soft seized. We found the engine is a mix match one. I think he just opened a can of worm.
He paid tons of Benjamin for it .

A bit, probably, but maybe not.

The headset is from a Bajaj and the rest of it probably is as well. but it looks mostly correct and Bajaj were not bad quality on most the components.

Yes, and more.

Also note the way the seats attach, it's been modified to look like an early widebody, with the posts extending from the body at the rear of the seat.

circled in the picture, there is a post welded into the frame with the rear of the front seat mounted to it. This sort of bodge is normally done when trying to make a bike look like a faro basso. They stopped short of that here in looks but still modified the frame.

This one is bodge for sure. This scoot probably has gone through major surgery from A-Z. Body probably welded and panned from large frame to wide frame or VBC to VBB. Engine is total trash.

I was in the market for a Vespa 3 months ago and I skipped this one. There are quite a few US market one on CL.
Notice the wheel hub link, script are not the right model. We know about the yellow boot and crash bar already.

It's Indonesian plate. By looking at the hand painted speedo, spare wheel cover... the scoot is a sloppy rebuilt or total junk.
someone must spend hours to retouch the speedo plate.

Further searching shows this from kylesscootershop.com, so seems legit.

Therefore from possible bodge does this now go to Deal of the Day?

The color and upholstery throw it off, but it seems ok to me. Not the typical bodge choices. But that's just a hunch, I'm by no means an expert.

Another Bodge? 52 Vespa...
How am I doing at learning to spot a Bodge? Is this one?
Turn Signals, Funky Floormat, Bodge style trim around cowls, bad text on the spare tire cover, Vietnam specific license plate "spot", brake and shift levers, the winged emblem on the front, 2 tone paint... How'd I do?

How am I doing at learning to spot a Bodge? Is this one?
Turn Signals, Funky Floormat, Bodge style trim around cowls, bad text on the spare tire cover, Vietnam specific license plate "spot", brake and shift levers, the winged emblem on the front, 2 tone paint... How'd I do?
you are getting close.
Quick glance, I see 10" wheel, chrome cover on the hub, chrome collar, ignition switch by the choke area... There are other details to prove this is not 125 or ACMA...

It might not be a bad VESPA to spring board back into the scene after a 25 year absence. Turn signals are a good safety feature especially for 50+ year old's who might suffer from neck/spine issues. The floormat is something a wife can appreciate. Ball-end levers not even going there, those are some big A$$ balls though. What about the dog wearing the shirt, that is classy.

It's amazing just how absolutely clueless newbies can be in the face of virtually every mechanic in the nation (with decades of experience) telling them otherwise.

Pick up the phone and call ANY shop in the nation who has worked on these.
They are ALL bad. You think they are all lying because they are racists who are willing to turn down business?

And people wonder why these keep selling on eBay?

This Rally looks legit to me. 99% of the details are matching with a US market scooter. Someone is just overdoing the chrome bars
