another lie
This is one of the harder one to spot as a bodged from Nam. The owner may have spent sometime to de-bodge it.
Just for fun, I contacted seller and caught him off guard. As usual, seller refused to say he imported from Vietnam. He went on the history of vespa from europe then claimed Sprint is the US market scoot. There are parts of the vespa proved otherwise 1) chrome accessories (leg shield trim, crest, gear selector cover, flywheel cover, trims on cow and fender, legstand, rear & front hub covered with chrome plate) 2) used wrong light switch 3) center mat is being bolt down 4) ignition key switch above the choke 5) fork link cover is very typical in Nam 6) spare tire cover is also very typical in Nam 7) taillight cover - from taiwan made company, very common in SEA 8 ) US market Sprint has different tail light and round headlight. (there may be exception) http://www.ebay.com/itm/122169429707 1967 Other Makes Sprint 150 Price:US $3,500.00 *price negotiable - though I've invested close to $3,000 fixing it up* I am parting ways with my precious 1967 Vespa Sprint 150 which has been excellently maintained and upgraded. This is a VLB model with the highly sought-after and more rare, trapezoidal headlight. She's a beaut! This scooter has the old "one-up, three-down" shifting and being as old as it is, it requires learning the small idiosyncrasies of clutch/shift/throttle balance (like any scooter/motorcycle) but once you do.....watch out! It hauls a$$. It has a rebuilt engine (Malossi kit) which makes it a 166.6 now and a newer Sito Plus P125X sport exhaust that let's it hit 75MPH pretty easily, maybe more - the needle gets buried after 120km/hr and it still pulls. It is a premix engine needing at least a 4% mixture which keeps the spark plugs clean yet still delivers great power. It's easy to measure the bit of oil to pour in the gas tank - I'll include a measuring cup specifically for the mixture. You'll see the upgraded super corsa sport seat which is more sleek and sits two more comfortably than the stock double seat. The tires are newer sport tires and have great grip. On some of the chrome pieces (easily replaceable) there is light rust from living by the beach for so long but it's in great shape otherwise. Comes with the spare tire and storage pouch on it. It also has a built-in, lockable saddle/cowling storage container. It is registered and insured and has been since I first bought it in 2007. I have service records since then and almost all work has been done at Bartels' Route 66 Riders on Lincoln. I'll even throw in the Haynes manual for it and two books on tuning/maintaining vintage Vespas. (I've moved onto my early 70s motorcycles now and need space, sadly) It only had 1,400 kilometers on it when I first bought it. I put another 2,600kms on it or so. ![]() ![]() |

He purchased his VBC 2 months ago from a guy who got it from a "reputable" seller in VietNam. The scoot now has soft seized. We found the engine is a mix match one. I think he just opened a can of worm. He paid tons of Benjamin for it . almogavar1969 wrote: dead give away on sprint are PX center mat and ignition key by fuel lever. drop price by $2000 and may be worth a gamble. |

circled in the picture, there is a post welded into the frame with the rear of the front seat mounted to it. This sort of bodge is normally done when trying to make a bike look like a faro basso. They stopped short of that here in looks but still modified the frame.

It's amazing just how absolutely clueless newbies can be in the face of virtually every mechanic in the nation (with decades of experience) telling them otherwise.
Pick up the phone and call ANY shop in the nation who has worked on these. They are ALL bad. You think they are all lying because they are racists who are willing to turn down business? And people wonder why these keep selling on eBay? "lol"
