Ad checks all the boxes for bodge
I have a 1966 vespa super that is in running condition and requires some tic or restoration. This bike was brought back from Vietnam a few years ago by it's previous owner. I am not a scooter guy and am focused on other projects so I've decided to sell this. I've had it running and through all the gears, but it backfires under load. The carb body has at least one or two stripped threads, and it wants to leak at the inlet. It's got a non-oem toggle for an ignition switch and I believe the wheels are 10 inch rather than the correct 8 inch. I imagine the larger wheels are an improvement, but as a motorcycle guy, I still feel like a circus bear riding this thing. The paint is pretty nice except for a large flake on the front fender. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-scooters-pocket-bikes/calgary/1964-vespa-150-super/1240433566?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true |

LMAO, "... what really cost a lot of money with these Vespa's is all the chrome trim pieces..." I'm still rolling on the floor 5mins after reading this.
$6000+ restoration? This guy must be a sale guy. He used trick in the book, valued super high sell low. Sad thing is there will be a newbie will bite every time. ![]() |

I want to start off by saying. My company policy is to never ever work on or sell anything from Vietnam.
Secretly ive been buying up Vietnam bikes here in the us around my area and dismantling them so nobody else could ride these junk. i put together some pics of one I just picked up to dismatled. A customer bought it four years ago in the austin Tx area. then move to dallas and ask if I would work on it. I informed him that it was a bike from ebay and shipped over from vietnam. after four years of sitting on it the customer finally sold it to me and i am pulling it apart and thought i would show you want I found. Heres a picture of it in austin when he bought it. as of now it only has 356 miles on it. ![]()

First of all Ive done a check on the body vin and engine serial number.
Looks like the original vin is bondo'd over and a VBB2t vin stamp over bondo. after pulling the tank and inspecting the inside of the body I noticed its a P125x body with a VBB square tail welded on the end. see pic ![]() |

A lot of the value is in the "hideous" accessories you are seeing. What do you think all that SEA bling was copied from?
Actually, I like the factory hopped up '56 Nash Special he's got listed. Only 4K. ![]() ![]() |

Definitely a bodge. It has all the shiny crappy parts and the usual 10" wheels conversion...

The image looked to be taken in Nam. Dude doesn't have the scooter on hand. Smelling fraud here. Well, at least the price is not through the roof. But I wouldnt even spend $200 for this piece of junk. ![]() |

Far eastern bodges
One thing that seems to be a theme, though not in all cases, is that most of the bodged scooters have single seats. When I was first into scootering in the early 80's there wasn't any imported crap, it was good honest home grown bodges. There certainly wasn't many ( vespa,s) with single seats. They seem to be everywhere now. Obviously I can only speak for the uk...
