I think I've spotted my first local bodge. With the scooter community in Cleveland so active, you wouldn't think this could happen here...

So, this ad is pretty thin on details, but the scooter in question features two-tone paint, low mileage as indicated by the odometer, and rear reflectors conveniently placed to cover up square license plate mounting holes.

Is it a bodge? If so, what other giveaways did I miss?
this is aint a bodge but poor quality part is perhaps as i see few parts look cheap like the speedo and hand switches.. i dunno it aint look good but i think its legit seeing the fork and the engine along with the other bodyparts Nerd emoticon

Seems legit to me, except if someone went to great lengths to unbodge it. Two tone paint job doesn't always mean bodge...

Thanks for the advice guys. I suppose posting the occasional non-bodge is helpful, right? At least I learned something...

yep, someone may have put lot of effort to debodge it or it may be a legit one.

rivets ? I've seen bodges from SEA having these type of rivets to hold the cowl rubber trim, flash guard, seat tag, floor rail....

what do you think?

An SS is much more likely to have been modified in a country where they actually had a market. Not a bodge, just not a perfect restoration.

I don't know. I just see quite a few bodge from SEA has that type of rivet that has hole in the middle. They always put rivet where i circled on the cowls. But hey it could be just a bad restoration =)

If you do, it's a pop rivet and probably wasn't installed in Italy. I too have a few.

Official 1965 Vespa. Works great, official title will be delivered with scooter.
And it's official!
Maybe there's a good reason it's so spendy.

Not the same...
Clearly these are different scooters. The one in Baltimore is a much simpler version as it run on gas not diesel. I think the Balto people are overcharging a lot!. Their vehicle is so much simpler....

One thing that seems to be a theme, though not in all cases, is that most of the bodged scooters have single seats. When I was first into scootering in the early 80's there wasn't any imported crap, it was good honest home grown bodges. There certainly wasn't many ( vespa,s) with single seats. They seem to be everywhere now. Obviously I can only speak for the uk...
That is very true for the us market too. Been there done that.

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE AD PRIOR TO MAKING AN INQUIRY. THANK YOU.

I purchased the bike in 2005. It was fully restored by a Vespa enthusiast. I rode it about 200 miles. I am selling it due to the lack of use and getting old! It has always been garaged (with climate control). Check the internet. They sell for $3-7k.

I have a clear MD title in hand. Extra Parts: keys, spark plugs, rear view mirrors, cables (clutch, gas), tire tube, etc

Odometer shows 21565 miles. I am not sure if the odometer is working. Tires are almost new with lots of tread. It is a very solid Vespa.

I tried to run it about 7 years ago. It did not start. I had a Vespa mechanic come over. He said the Coil was bad. I purchased the part a few months later but, did not fix it. You need to drain gas mix, add new mix, change the spark plug (included) and coil (included). I would also recommend changing the gear box oil to be on the safe side. I cannot perform the aforementioned because we live in an apartment complex.

WILL ONLY DEAL FACE TO FACE WITH A "REAL" BUYER WITH CASH IN HAND.
WILL NOT SHIP.
WILL IGNORE LOW BALL OFFERS.

not sure why people would leave the Vietnamese gov issued license plate on the scoot. I'm surprise they left the original speedo on the vespa. Usually, the SEA folks strip out everything.
