I actually came to this thread to see if the two in Lake Forest were listed here. Since I haven't seen mine yet (I'm going to Bangalore, India in October), I'm not really in the market, but wanted to poke around the market.

I was guessing the green one was a Bodge because of the glove box. I remember seeing a comment about "glove box when one wasn't offered on that model."

So here's a request. I know it's redundant to the vast majority of you, but if you could post a quick note or two about why it's obviously a bodge, it's still helpful to the Noobs.

A good example of a bodge is the following. Two tone paint job, plastic center mat of a PX, 10" wheels conversion, too much chrome, crash bars and accessories that don't belong to the era. I notice that occasionally a bike gets posted up here that has a couple red flags on it but turns out to be a customized USA bike where somebody used some popular bodge style accessories they thought looked cool. Or even older bikes with authentic period bling that is now copied in Asia and the accessories can be worth more than the bike.

It's in the details and doing a little research will keep you burn free if you're not sure.

the two in lake forest are most def bodges. they also haven't been tagged up in years and had been sitting-- i worked on both.

the green/white is pretty bodgetastic but starts well and runs okay. it's had a bunch of work done but it's still a little sketchy. for $500 it wouldn't be a bad gamble, maybe a grand if you're feeling brave.

the silver one is a dumpster fire. it starts, runs and rides but it's hot garbage all the way around. avoid at all costs.

Over the weekend, a quick ride with a few buddies to catch a few drinks. Of course, a few scooters drew crowds here and there. One young man was so excited on this junk until we broke his hope/dream.

Can't believe some one actually buying this thing. 1k + back fee + tax + registration = ~2000+ which it isnt worth a penny.

Thinking about going out and looking at possibly picking up this scoot, is there any red flags or anything? Im fine with the engine being non stock and I really like that trapezoidal headlight which I know is not stock.

The GL looks pretty legit. The trap headlight is stock. The only thing that looks a bit weird to me is the horn and of course the motor. Who knows what type of bench seat that is.

GL is the only bike I've regretted selling.

legit bike and body wise the headset is stock. it has a 200 motor, which to me is a plus. id buy if i had the money.

Show of hands ... anyone ever really hear of a 150cc 2-stroke Vespa that will give you 107mpg?

I'd like to see their data. Especially considering the odometer only reads 150.

I saw in the official service manual of my VBA that said it was supposed to get 100 mpg. Like you I thought "no way!". Then I saw that the way you are supposed to check for mileage is to ride at 20mph with no wind and without varying speed. I didn't know how to do that except, possibly on a test track so i counted how many telephone poles that I could pass after turning the fuel off at various speeds and extrapolating from there. You know what? It did come out to approximately 100mpg but who wants to ride at 20mph?

For the three years I've been riding it, my P200E is averaging 48.32mpg. Best case was 68.71, but I think that was an anomaly. I have had several tanks that were well above 55mpg, though.

Still, nowhere approaching 100mpg.

My wife's Buddy 170, however ... a steady 98.69mpg. What a great bike.

I've often wondered about this. Say for example, a well tuned 150 3 port running a 20/20 and a sensible exhaust but setup for economy - jetting, timing etc. If driven on level ground at maybe a steady 35mph, what would be the best economy possible? Anybody here tried for best personal MPG?

I feel a bit guilty when I ride by Priuses and the like that I know are getting better mileage than I am.

I had a mostly stock VBB (VBC piston and head, 20/20 carb, sprint exhaust) that I put about 30K miles on. Much of that was doing a 35 mile one way commute, so ~70 round trip. No freeway but lots of 45-50mph back roads.

I used just under 1 gal, as I was working at a gas station and my routine was to put in one gal at the end of my shift each night, but would need to skip it or put in less at some point in the week.

So better than 70mpg, just not sure how much better.

I believe 70mpg. I'm guessing brownie gets around ~50-60mpg at cruising speeds. We'll see about yellow this weekend.

P125, five port 150 barrel(take off), stock gearing, shito exhaust, 20/20 carb. Cruises between 45-50 comfortably, but can be coaxed to 55. With my normal country road riding I get between 35 and 45 mpg on a good day.😆
