Yes, that is a very good representation of a bodge. Stay away, let some other fool buy it that does not want to put in the time to do research.

Worst of it is they've sold several of these polished turds in the past for very decent money. Worse than that the bikes all seem to be legit from what I can see so obviously total Clowns in the room when it comes to scooters.

I did the world a service today. As often happens, I was approached by a guy as I was gearing up to ride home and wanted to chat about my scooter. It was a pleasant talk until I heard that dreaded phrase: "I think I'm going to buy a restored Vespa from India."
I immediately gave him a stern yet civil lesson on bodgery and directed him to you guys if he really wants to get his hands dirty. He seemed receptive and thankful. ![]()

I'm not so sure about that SS180. It looks right, at least for an Italian or UK market scoot, the trap headset and big arse being the stand out features. I have no knowledge of whether the SS180 was ever sold in SEA, but at that price, I would be willing to take a chance on it being genuine. It would be at least $6-7000 in the UK.
The poor choice of cheap accessories does not do it any favours. |

I'm not up to speed on my bodges:
1. What is going on with that coil? Help me get my mind around it. 2. What is that chain-mail looking stuff all around the floorboards? |

rowdyc, you may well be correct about it being a bodge, but the rear light (Euro spec.) and the glove box look true for an SS180. I don't have a keen enough eye to spot that the frame is Sprint, rather than Super Sprint.
To me it looks like it's had a poor respray and it has been adorned with some god awful accessories, but I think those are it's only crimes. If that is a real SS180 and it was in the UK, it would've had a first class restoration, because an SS makes big money here. Here's an example that was sold by a UK specialist: http://www.retrospectivescooters.com/archive/vespa-ss180-1967/ |

I get a kick out of pictures like the one above where there are random fasteners or scooter bits scattered on the floor around the bike.
Alternately, there's a big puddle of gas/oil right underneath. That surely instills confidence in a potential buyer. |

may be this is one of the rare "good" bodge that was being restored by folks here.
Or it's a myth. ![]() ![]() |

Oh my my... This ad cracked me up so hard. I'm not sure how they can put year 1957 for this junk when its frame is not even close to the original design. It seems like the cowl, front fender made in Nam.
All those signs lead to "ROME". European market, 10" wheel, famous license plate frame, 4 screw mat, bolt in cowl crashbar, P125 engine. "NO Signal, no brake light, no speedo" LMAO. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Fresh hot Bodge served! Asking over $5,000 CAD i think not! Owner purchased it as it was being used as Window Deco, it should have stayed that way. |
