I love that colour. Almost an RAF blue. Not convinced it's an Asian bodge though. If it is, they really are starting to dispense with the tell tale 'accessories'. It does look very shiny though.

it was definitely a bodge and someone has went through to de-bodge it or like above said, they follow this thread to take off those "signs"

Beside the 10" wheels, and chrome on stand, gear select cover and modification to the column lock. It still have these bodge sign.
1) still has the on/off key above the choke area
2) has Px brake

I would not buy anything this shinny.

Yes you're correct, it looks much more obvious from the engine side. What is that weird engine cover? Makes it look like an auto.

Looks like some kind of cold weather ducting ....to heat the motor up by pulling air in by the hot exhaust.. thats how old VW motors do it.

Yall are slippin.

Yall didnt spot the Amaranto colored SEA rally 200 on ebay

Pretty sure Sang Nguyen exported that one, he comes up with a rare one every now and then. The little plastic trim around the glovebox and the little aluminum mud flap below where the plate goes tells the story. Also seller said "its a 74 but titled as a 76". I'll tell you why. When it was imported and whoever imported it was working on getting a title and the DMV inspector came to check the VIN and give him a document that the bonded title folks will want, the DMV guy wrote down the wrong year. It happened to me.

Anyway, Sang is a very nice man TBH, He sells those green and white with tan seats with the racks on them on ebay. Something he likes to do is post pics of all the ones he sells. I have see unrestored 1963 GS160 come from him as well as 'restored' small frames and a red rally 200 as well.

Apart from the terrible paintjob, the Rally seems legit to me. All spot welds are there, no signs of bondo and correct era peripherals, etc.

Wrong badge color and horn but looks legit. Need a better look at the cowls and front mudguard because those pics are too small.

Ok heres some better pics .I dont know what to offer for it .Any clues ?? Says it may have been an old police version in New York but no proof of that .Also states that a 1969 150 engine was put into it as the old one died .New lights,Brake cables ,Carb rebuilt ,new wiring . Runs and shifts good

The GL is a sweet bike! Unique and dependable. Depending on the engine and condition I'd pay up to $2k, but everyone's different.

If they put a Super engine in....BOO.
If they put a Sprint V engine in...WIN!

Offer $1000 and see how it goes.

THis one is legit not a bodge. Original paint, No rust, I tested out this one. Just you probably will have to rebuild the engine. It's in Socal.

It's funny that the real good scoot is going for cheap probably less than 2k and the fabricated shinny chrommy looking one at 5k price range is selling like hot cake.

Thats an 8" front fender. When converting a VBB to 10" wheels its best to use a GS 150 front fender like I did on my '65 or it looks weird....in my opinion.

If it's really a running P200 motor, that could be a pretty good deal so long as you had another bike to put it in. You could part out the rest if it's a crap frame, which it easily could be with the diamond plate all over it.

Kinda looks more back shed bodge than SEA. Could've been SEA before back shed, but thinking not?

At least they are honest - slightly modified. Just can't be 100% on the quality.

That floor pan covering could be hiding serious issues, just a floor pan that needs replacing, or nothing at all and is there because they like it (have bad taste)

They did a good job, but still there is some give away sign. There is noway to have a 1968 VBB. Sounds like they welded a Super or sprint VIN into the frame.

This one has pretty much every bodge option going:
    2-tone paint
    P-range kickstart
    P-range centre mat
    10" wheels
    yellow stand feet
    twin seats with backrest
    chrome "Piaggio" number plate holder
    thick-rimmed speedo
    winged badge embellisher
"150 vbb .. needs tidying up . Engine been rebuilt about 15mths ago by Trojan, not ridden much since so still needs running in . 10 inch new chrome wheels fitted it does ride great starts and stops as it should"

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/313956262603776/

The seller has also posted it on the "VESPA FOR SALE?" FB group. Nobody's commented there, although I'm sure many must know what it is. What's the etiquette in these situations? Call it out in the interest of someone not getting ripped off, or keep schtum because if you don't have something nice to say ... ?

The brake pedal is PX. It might be a great running driving bike, just not original and the owner might not even know it.

Frame is P-series, rear brake lever through the floor, shape of the rear, front fork is P-series as well. The original builder probably used a P and welded up the turn signal holes, modified a rally front fender, modified the rear section and installed rally cowls.

The owner may not know But that blue German badge is right where the P-series VIN would be. Those badges were definitely put on to fool someone. Your right though, it might be a great running bike but might be a pain to title in another state.

Interesting one. A 1966 Sprint could easily have been an SEA bodge to begin with, despite being restored in Queensland. Some Vespas have been through multiple restorations. On the other hand, it could have spent it's whole life in Australia. Regardless, I'm not a lover of the whole GS160 replica thing. Same goes for the Lambretta SX replicas using an LI as the base.

Many online retailers sell VBB and GS160 cowls for p-body. This is not the first VBB/p clone I have seen, but the price is outrageous even if it is done right.
