I think the blurry photos really bring it all home. but I especially like the: here's a picture of it in the back of a truck with a pallet and a door and tied down with clothesline. then the next picture with that same clothesline all bundled on the floor board.
if I was trying to sell something for damn near 10G's I'd at least wash it and wax it and take some nice beauty shots of it-- not in the apartment garage with the recycling and shit. |

FYI, the kickstart rubber also works at a great rubber buffer for the Buzzetti side stand. Just slip it on about halfway up the stand, and it will keep it from slapping against the floorboard.

A few months back, there was a FB market place add for 4 scooters in really rough shape. They were like Allstate's and VBB's. I thought they were in my town, because I only glanced at it and it was a similar sounding name. When I looked again, I found that they were on the other side of the state. I was really glad because if they were local, I would have to have had a look and you know how that goes.

LOTS of pinholes, too, in the picture of the key. Assuming there's not a ton of filler under that paint, it looks like the frame and body are in relatively good shape. Rubber rather than aluminum legshield beading. That's going to cause trouble when the legshield flexes and eventually cracks at the end of the reinforcing bar along the top. Motor looks like it's probably correct, but that means two-port, which means "relatively slow." I'm always a bit suspicious when the seller doesn't post a picture of the motor, but at least the kickstart lever isn't for a P The tail light is correct, but a re-pop. No idea on quality without opening and/or removing it. Headlight & bezel look original. The floor rails are screwed rather than riveted on, which bothers some more than others. New rims. Probably a crap exhaust, not that it matters with the 2port motor. Assume it has a balanced 6V AC electrical system, so really only good for riding in daylight hours unless you have some weird desire to see where you're going. All-in-all, it looks like someone did an amateur quick n' dirty restoration on it, but without getting a better look than in the photo's, I can't really say more than that. Assuming it starts and runs well, it should be fine.

Thanks Chandlerman, extremely helpful. I'm not at all worried about speed (the wife even less so😂) or paintwork as would like a bit of a restoration job myself. This one also came up, would be interested in your opinion.

I'm not nearly as qualified to comment on that orange one (although others on here certainly are), but it looks like it was wrecked and barely repaired, then given a rattle can respray with the bike still assembled. No idea if the frame is straight and the fork un-bent.
It looks like it's pretty much all original hardware, for better or worse. I'm always suspicious of the "it ran when parked" bikes. If all they needed was some gas in the tank and maybe a fresh spark plug, why wouldn't the owner do that to increase the sale price? |

Thank you👍
I've asked for walk round videos of both. I'll post the links when they arrive. Always interested in "someone in the knows" opinion. Thanks again Jim |

The videos confirm my original assessment. I assume from the second video it's non-running. Hard to say for sure, but it seems to have really low compression, unless I'm just used to hi-compression motors.
I have to be honest, unless it's a steal of a price (which I don't think it is), I'd keep on walking. |

black GL could be an good score, for a good price; but I'd also offer this blanket advice---dont buy a vintage scooter from ebay. You dont really know what you're getting. Alot can be lost in translation thru photos and videos. Buy something local, you can see in person, meet the seller in person. Exercise patience and the right scoot will arrive.

That bike looks good. The paint is not great, but looks pretty original and complete. The Siem headlight, the speedo and junction box on the engine. Misc hardware looks original.
It's hilarious that it tries to start it in a video and can't. |

Maybe even rattlecan--can't tell from those pictures. The "new engine" is another huge red flag unless the owner can provide serious documentation on the provenance. No photo of the motor is always a red flag to me. Also, there's a lot of reasons it might not be running (well) besides "needs carb cleaned." The 10" conversion is immediately VERY suspicious so I'd require the owner to provide good (i.e. verifiable) provenance on the 10" conversion--but if you want a 10" bike, get a 10" bike, don't get a VBB that's been converted. Also, wtf is going on with that seat? My guess is that someone tried to clean up a bodge and is now trying to get out from under it. |
